In your opinion, what quote from any DW media can summarize the entire show?

I’ll start. Quote from Kaleidoscope audio.

Brigadier: Doctor, what are they?
The Doctor: Alien nanobots! As I suspected!

There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea’s asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke, and cities made of song. Somewhere there’s danger, somewhere there’s injustice, and somewhere else the tea’s getting cold. Come on, Ace, we’ve got work to do!

Hm, good choice)

I remember being at a convention and Tim Treloar read this quote in character as a Third Doctor addressing Jo. I didn’t record it, sadly, but it was really really impressive.

The primary one that swings to mine is the classic " I’m not a President! And no, I’m not an officer! You know who I am? I am an idiot with a box and a screwdriver, passing through, helping out" - 12

And the other one that springs to mind is the last line of classic who “There are worlds out there where the sky is burning. And the sea’s asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke, and cities made of song. Somewhere there’s danger. Somewhere there’s injustice. And somewhere else, the tea’s getting cold. Come on, Ace — we’ve got work to do!” - 7

And both of those, to me at least, really sum up what I love about the show and what it’s like when it’s at it’s best and when Im enjoying it the most

For me, this moment is great, but only if you know the show already.

All of time and space, everything that ever happened or ever will…Where do you want to start?

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that no-one has written Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey yet :joy:

(Not complaining though)

Ian Chesterton: Let me get this straight. A thing that looks like a police box, standing in a junkyard, it can move anywhere in time and space?

Susan: Yes.

The Doctor: Quite so.

Ian Chesterton: But that’s ridiculous!

I’d say that quite nicely sums up this show

I saw that too. Idk if it was the same convention or not. But I remember it. It was fun, though I am pretty sure I didn’t appreciate it as much as other people there as I hadn’t yet seen any Third Doctor episodes back then.

It’s no secret that I love quotes, which is why I built the Quotes page and added over 900 of them myself.

Remember that if your favourite quote is missing, you can add it! There are badges to earn for adding quotes that aren’t already on the site.

I’ve just recently published almost all the ones that were waiting in the queue. I’m going to add some more features to it soon  including finally being able to see a list of the quotes you’ve submitted, and see how many favourites a quote gets.

Anyway sorry I hijacked this thread for an announcement but thought it was a good place to put it! As for a quote that sums up Doctor Who, well you’ve all chosen great ones, here is my choice:

“Never be cruel. Never be cowardly. Hate is always foolish. Love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.”
— Twelfth Doctor

And just for @BillFiler:

“People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey… stuff.”
— Tenth Doctor

DOCTOR: Must be a spatial-temporal hyperlink!
MICKEY: What’s one of those?
DOCTOR: Dunno, just made it up. Didn’t wanna say “magic door.”

Hang on, that’s not how it goes. As the Twelfth Doctor says just before this: Let’s get it right

“Never be cruel. Never be cowardly. And never ever eat pears! Remember… Hate is always foolish, and Love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.”

Can’t leave out the pears just because they make your chin wet you know :pear:

Nah, bring back the anti-pear agenda.

Those things are musty apples.

FENTON: He will do no such thing until I get some answers. Who are you? That’s what I want to know. Impersonating a government official. Trespassing on council property.

CLARA: Seriously?

FENTON: Seriously.

CLARA: Fine, I’ll tell you who I am. I am the one chance you’ve got of staying alive. That’s who I am.
