Very late to this thread, but just wanted to chime in briefly to say that yes, this is a feature I would love and would definitely use (mostly for novels and Classic serials)!

I was looking at this again the other day actually.
Defiantly a feature I will build, I was just trying to work out how it would all work and it’s a bit complicated because all the other sites only do books but we have so many media types.

(Feels crazy to me that I first posted about it in 2024… how time flies!)
It’s coming along really well but the issue is that it now introduces another way to track stories, and I’m wondering if it will be confusing for people.
At the moment you just mark a story as completed after you finish it. But with this, you mark a story (or boxset or novel or anthology) as “in progress” as soon as you start it, and then update progress each time you put it down.
It’s kind of a reversal of how it’s done, but makes it much more granular and more like other sites like GoodReads.
Both ways will be available, I’m just struggling with making the UI make this really obvious.
Here are the buttons at the moment. I think I need to make it more obvious that “Start Listening” is a completely different thing. Maybe the button will look different, or be separated.
I am also still not happy with a button that says “Listen” (it then changes to “Listened” when pressed") as I don’t think it’s the right word. In a perfect world it would say something like “Mark as Listened” but that’s a bit long-winded.
Once you press “Start Listening”, you get this popup which lets you move the slider or type a number to save your progress:
And here is the popup for a Collectable, which lets you tick off each story, or mark your progress along each one separately:

I think that this is a good first design for this feature. Good job as always!

I think that one thing it does well is having the “finished” option at the top. DW has a lot of small stories that you can complete in one sitting, and I think that should be the default.
I think that “finished” is a better word since it is more distinct than something with the word “listen” in it.

Also, a DNF option might be something to add to this, as it is not really a skip but also not something that you are planning on coming back to.

This looks great already.
My two penneth would be - make Start Listening into ‘Currently Listening/Reading/Watching’ and turn Listen/Watch/Read into the past tense - Listened/Watched/Read. Or maybe a catch all ‘Completed’. So rather than the word change it just is a colour change.
(But also, this place is going to just be me 24/7 adjusting percents and pages and what have you, and fiddling with my profile page, and making playlists, and tracking characters - if you add any more features I may just have to jack in my job and family and live in a wifi-enabled cave…)

A question about In Progress (can we get back on topic? please? 
)
If I start a box set using the new In Progress feature, after finishing it, it disappears from the list. Do you think it should work like “My Story Tracker” and immediately queue up the next box set? Or is this just a manual way for people to mark their progress?
Because if it did queue up the next box set, that would mark the “start date” as today, when you may not get around to doing it for ages.
I’m inclined to make them a little separate, but if one behaves differently to the other then it might be confusing…?

I think that it is not until you mark it as “in progress” that it should be started. As you say, you may not start the next box for a while.
I think something that would be cool is to add chapters and episodes to this. This would make it easy to log if you watch one episode of classic Who, for instance.

Oh yes I totally forgot I was going to add Episodes, because we already have that data.
Chapters however… would be a lot of work!
