"Iceberg" by David Banks --- REVIEW

Hi there, just finished reading and reviewing the VNA Iceberg by David Banks.

Personally, I found it a little generic, it didn’t feel like the novel tried to do much with the Cybermen and it just went through the motions with them. Ruby is a brilliantly written protagonist but the book takes way too long to get going.

I’d be interested to know other people’s opinions on it.

Haven’t read it, but given who the author is, if it isn’t “Excellent!” :cyberman:, I’m disappointed…

I’ve not read it myself, but I’ve heard it’s got a pretty middling reputation.

I’d say you’ve reviewed the story quite fairly :+1:

My main issue with it is that too much time is spent fleshing out the characters and on world-building that in the end amounts to very little. We get it the artist guy likes Absinthe!:wink:The Cybermen definitely deserved a better outing than what we got here.

And just to be really nitpicky - why does Ruby’s snowsuit from STS on the cover have her name on it, she has no affiliation with that station.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I read this one a couple weeks ago and I totally agree with your review. I so wished that Ruby could have been a companion! Would have really added some variety to the TARDIS Team.

I thought it was fantastic, one of my favorite Doctor Who books
