I just finished it!

Haha it was brilliant, such a good book about such a good episode. I’m not intrigued about how the audiobook works?!

I liked the choose your own adventure part, I actually got stuck in a time loop there and had to cheat to get out?! The Toymaker would not approve!

@Tian another difference from the audiobook is that there is a few puzzles - including a maze you have to find the exit out of, one where you have to choose the correct string, and a word search! Oh and a fake word search where the only letters are HAHAHAHA :joy:

Thanks for the recommendation

Oh and when the Toymaker reveals he is the one writing the book he shows a brand new cover for it!

It sounds like I have to read this and not only listen to it.

It’s such an extraordinary book, isn’t it? Reminded me of Moffat’s approach to “Day of the Doctor”. Completely different, of course, but a huge amount of thought went into realising this for the printed page. I enjoyed all three of the novelisations from the 60th specials, but this one was a total revelation!

Just got this from the library. Just thumbing through it, it looks bonkers. But I’ve got a few things to finish reading first. By the way, who reads the audiobook?

EDIT: Ah, Dan Starkey. It’s a shame they couldn’t have gotten Neil Patrick Harris to have done it.

I cannot imagine what his price for something like that would be!

I know, I know. Still, a novel that’s written by the Toymaker… one can dream can’t they?

Finished this last night. It was great! So much fun. Follows the TV story closely, but with enough extra stuff to make it its own thing. The games, and references are so well done. There was even a reference to Delta and the Bannermen in there. Mazes, word searches, choose-your-own-adventure with an option that ends the book because you cheated and just read straight through, a fun way to get around copyright law. So much good stuff, and so clever. This was a great addition to the universe.

I am usually very of novelisations, since I don’t want to waste my time reading something I already watched. But this thread sounds like I have to get my hands on this one. (Or maybe I’ll just ask @Schroedingerswhat if they can borrow me their copy )

Just tell me when you want to read it and I bring it over when I got the time.
