Good morn-aftern-even-day, depending on where you’re at!
I’m Jacob, and I’ve been a Who fan since the beginning of 2013. My best friend and I decided to try to get to San Diego Comic-Con that summer and he wanted to go to this panel for the 50th anniversary of something called Doctor Who. I decided I might as well understand what I’d be seeing, so I decided to binge the show starting from Rose. I only made it through End of Time, so I was definitely a bit confused, but still had a great time!
A week before Day of the Doctor aired, I clicked on an article talking about this thing called “The Light at the End”. I thought putting all those Doctors together sounded neat, so I bought it from this outfit called Big Finish. I quickly fell in love, listening to the story literally dozens of times. Over the months that followed, I took advantage of sales, getting a bunch of Unbound and early Main Range stories. Hundreds of purchases later, here I am, richer in entertainment but poorer in US dollars.
I’ve since made many lovely friends through connecting over Who. When my now-fiance and I were first dating, we made a habit of listening to the EDAs together (we later got to tell the story to Paul McGann and invite him to our wedding!) and we’ve kept it up on and off throughout our nearly 8 years together!
Doctor Who has been a great source of enjoyment over these past 11 years (holy moly) and I look forward to chatting here with y’all!
Welcome to the forum @Jacobz40 and congrats on your engagement. Hope you enjoy your time here.
I’d love to know if Paul McGann has responded to your wedding invitation!
Fun fact - my wife and I have a message of congratulations from Yee Jee Tso (Chang Lee from the TV Movie) for our wedding which my best man gave us on the day. It’s a bit of a long story why.
Thanks for the warm welcome, all! Mr. McGann did say he’d love to come to the wedding. We’re getting married this June, G-d willing, so we’ll try to send an invite, though we don’t expect a yes, of course!
