Hey everyone, I'm Jamesđź‘‹

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year.

I’m James, 22 years old, and Welsh, living with my parents in Cardiff. I started watching Doctor Who when I was 4 and have not stopped watching it since, it’s such a fantastic show. It’s what partly inspired my interest in screenwriting, which I’ve just completed an MA in. I would love to write for Doctor Who one day.

I love every Doctor, but my personal favourites are Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, McCoy, Capaldi, Whittaker, and Gatwa, shoutout to Jo Martin. My favourite companions are Ian and Barbara, Vicki, Sarah Jane, Tegan, Ace, Donna, Graham, and Ruby. My favourite monsters are the Cybermen, the concept of them is terrifying. I’m an adoptee, and so the reveal in Series 12 that the Doctor is an adoptee and foundling not from Gallifrey meant a lot to me, because having watched the show from Hartnell to Gatwa, the Doctor is a very adoptee coded character. I’d love to open up about this on here.

Really looking forward to Season 2/Series 15, hopefully not long to go until it airs.

Welcome. Having an adoptee entering into our conversations will be very interesting indeed. We’ve got nearly a year’s worth of topics, so feel free to dip in and out of whatever strikes your fancy. Try not to be put off by old and/or long threads. Everything here is open to having new life breathed into it. I’ll let @ItsR0b0tNinja tell you about the clubs (they get mad if you don’t let them do it :face_with_peeking_eye:). Above all, have fun.

I already welcomed you in the Fugitive Doctor thread, but hello again anyway!

I hope you have a great time here on the forum! This site genuinely has the loveliest community in the Who fandom.

I look forward to seeing your work on screen!

Excellent choices, and I completely agree!

Yes! I love the Cybermen, I wish we got more of them.

This is a much more positive experience than twitter. I am so glad to have a place where people listen to each other and respect that it is okay to have different opinions.

We have TV Club Audio Club Book Club and Comic Club. They’re good places to jump into and give your spicy opinions :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If there is anything you want to know about in the site or forum, feel free to ask, and we will point you in the right direction.

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Welcome to the forum @thegallifreyanrebel - hopefully you’ll find us 100% less combative and 100% more friendly and inclusive than Xitter. Everyone is welcome here, all opinions are valid and we promote doing something which some parts of fandom seem to forget is important - enjoying Doctor Who!

Hello there, and welcome to our ever-growing corner of the Whoternet (yes, I coined a term; live with it!).

Oh my! You live in the heart of modern DW production! And the rift! And Torchwood! I’m jealous!

Imagine the day you write your first DW script, and we can all claim that we’ve known you here on the forum before you made it! Best of luck with your writing!

Two of my favourites are on that list, so I like you more already!

My favourite companion is on that list. Did I mention liking you?

Also, lovely note about wishing to write for it, may I ask do you write in your spare time already? If so feel free to share it here, especially if it’s who related, either way I am sure people would love to see what you wrote or will write (if you feel comfortable sharing those, of course!)

Welcome!

Great choice of Doctors and companions

Have you ever delved into Big Finish, or any of the books or comics? Just wondering if you’re mainly a TV enjoyer or are into the wider expanded universe.

Yes definitely, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of that story unfold in season 2 hopefully. We’d love to hear your thoughts and perspective on this!

That would be awesome!

Welcome! I have a screenwriting MA too, but I decided to become an aircraft mechanic instead of using it :person_shrugging: maybe one day we’ll both write for Who!

Welcome to :tardis: Guide

You might be interested to listen to this super great podcast interview Joy Piedmont from “Five Years Rapid” had with Chris Chibnall about how him being an adoptee influenced his era and particularly the Timeless Child storyline. The interviewer is also herself an adoptee, it is one of the best Who interviews I’ve ever heard/read :slightly_smiling_face:
