That’s awesome. Thanks.
A filter to see if a story has reviews on it
You can now filter stories to show only those WITH reviews or only those WITHOUT reviews (the new filter is under “Ratings & Reviews”).
You can also sort stories by number of reviews!
More filters hopefully coming soon…
Good news - I have built an EXCLUDE filter for Characters now, and it’s ready to use, although I do want to do some updates to it.
As it’s just a test for now, it’s not shown by default - go down to “More Filters Available”, tick “Exclude Characters”, and hit add. It will remain active on your login for the next 12 hours. (Side note: I’m going to build a way for people to pick and choose which filters to show, in their profile).
Because I’m limited to how my system works, it appears a bit differently than AO3. Instead of showing how many items would be excluded if you select it, it shows how many items will remain from you selecting it, so it may appear backwards to you. Also, it shows all characters, even ones that aren’t included to exclude! A bit confusing.
As an example, here is a filtered view showing TV Stories featuring the Tenth Doctor, excluding ones with Rose Tyler in.
I’ll continue to update this and am planning to hopefully flip the numbers, so it works like AO3, and maybe hide a character from the list if selecting it won’t do anything.
(Oh and by the way this list is reduced down to prevent there being too many options - it only shows Doctors, Companions, and Main Villains. Oh, and I don’t think it works with hierarchical characters at the moment)
Ugh sorry to do this but I’m going to have to remove the exclude characters filter from the site for now.
It’s just slowing everything down. Even if you don’t use it yourself, it added nearly a million records to the database and is the biggest filter by a factor of over 10.
It’s just because of how it was built, it adds an entry for every single character against every single story.
I need to find a better way. Not sure what that is yet. But I’m removing it!
Not a filter but I would like to be able to sort by my ratings
That might be possible, but only on a special page rather than in every view. Would that be ok?
Also tell me, what would the secondary sort be? If it shows all your 5 stars, are they then sorted by date, name, what?
Thanks
I would primarily use it for the Elimination Games. Secondary sorting should probably be the date maybe that favorite could rank higher than a non-favorite.
Good ideas. I’ll have a think! It’s too early to think at the moment lol
It is no rush
I use the Doctor, Companion and Series filters the most. It helps me find stories I haven’t rated yet in a specific series or to find episodes.
I think it would be helpful if there was a filter for page count/episode count. Sometimes I want to dive into something new, but I don’t want to watch six episodes or read over a certain number of pages. It would be nice if there was a lowest-to-highest filter; otherwise I have to open up every entry to see how many pages a book/story has, or scroll through each page to find the serial with the fewest episodes.
That’s a good idea, and all the data is available… I’ve added it to my list
Did not know where to put this bug and did not want to create a topic for it. But according to the filters, there are no Cybermen stories in the Revival era.
That’s not a bug; that’s the truth.
The Cybermen do not exist in Nu Who.
You’ve been imagining it all.
Welcome to real life!
Yeah there seems to be something up with the Villains filter, it’s also what is wrong with the randomiser.
Right, new Who has Cybusmen instead…
Villain filter fixed
Also, I can’t find where someone pointed it out, but I’ve fixed the Randomiser for villains too.
Note: I’ve removed The Ood from villains list.
I might remove the various Dalek designs as well.
