Halloween: Doctor Doctor Doctor and Other Stories (Release Discussion)

Done with Doctor, Doctor, Doctor. I thought that it started better than it ended and I had some issues with the climax. But otherwise a great exercise in atmosphere and the main cast were solid characters to follow. Not enough Sylvester McCoy but I figured that would be the case going in so I wasn’t surprised. 3.5/5 stars.

I loved Doctor Doctor Doctor, it was really up my alley! I was genuinely invested in the characters and cared what happened to them. Excellent writing in my opinion, it felt truly creepy and the mild body horror was conveyed quite well. Very excited to continue with this set.

Doctor, Doctor, Doctor was great, a properly tense atmosphere and while it does go on for a little too long, the characters are compelling enough to keep it interesting, 8/10

Just finished Office Space.

10/10, masterpiece, best story of the set and one of the best UNIT stories, and I shall hear nothing stating otherwise

Is this a photo of 7 from the TV movie? Or is it a composite?

It looks like it. It’s my favourite look for him. Sometimes he looks a bit baby-faced in the show.

Doctor, Doctor, Doctor, is Quite a mouthful of a title but still a good story. Its certainly better than the finale of mooney and pringles dark gallifrey finale. I really liked it..

Just listened to Doctor Doctor Doctor!

Very pleased I listened to it when it’s dark out, with a jumper and a candle, rather than on my walk tomorrow.

Might save all of these for evening listens.

Great vibes. I’d be happy with this as a Halloween special on its own, so I’m very pleased that there’s three more! :ghost:

It looks like this photo from Survival flipped and composited

Composite. They lost the rights for pictures from the movie (that’s why, for example, young 8 on the Audacity sets covers is now a composite too)

■■■■■■■ hell. I was excited for Office Space. I didnt expect this like at all. That was genuinly one of the mos disturbing and emotionally devastating audios i have ever listened to. Easily top 5 story of the year. My current top 5 are:

  1. Much Ado about Racing

  2. the Haunted Windmill (the whole set)

  3. Office Space

  4. The Life and Death of Private Eddie Wise

  5. A Delusion of Witches

Listened to the 3rd Doctor and Jo story earlier! I really dug that one as well!

My favourite stories are always the ones with a really strong aural image throughout. If I can picture everything in my mind, and follow it, I get super invested. (Sometimes, especially the 4 parters, this isn’t always the case, and I will get a bit lost.)

I was with this one all the way!! I could picture everything really clearly, and was super into it!

I think it helped that I forgot that this was a Krynoid story :man_facepalming: I know they’re on the cover, but I forgor.

So when they were talking about the pods, I suddenly realised and it was a fun revelation for me.

YES, I am dumb for not piecing it together when the lady was turning green. But I never claimed to be smart!

A fun story. I would happily buy a spooky set every month, I just dig it! (As the kids say.)

Is this fun… I’m being for serious, I’m aphantasic so like the idea of actually seeing things in my head is, for lack of better words, mind-blowing

My best mate has this!! He doesn’t listen to audios, but with books he doesn’t get emotional or feel tense in the same way I do, as he can’t form mental images as he’s reading. (It makes our book clubs interesting!)

That’s the main reason I love reading: it’s like seeing a film unfold, but you get to create it yourself (if that makes sense?)

I find aphantasia fascinating!

Another thing I find interesting about it (not sure if this is the same for you) but if we’re reading a chapter where someone is eating delicious food and it’s described in great detail, he won’t feel hungry or crave that food, or feel like he can smell it!

That’s such a huge part of the experience for me, when it comes to books and audios!
