“The Power of the Doctor” is one of my all-time favourite stories

What’s your problem with Dhawan’s facial hair?b👀

The lack thereof… I think he’s the hottest incarnation of the Master so when he was clean shaven I was quite sad

I also don’t like the “Haven’t seen the Doctor in X decades” when they have on Big Finish. Well, Ace has, not sure about Tegan. However a recent 10da story with Ace had a clever line to explain that instance at the very least.

I don’t want to be overly negative about it as it’s one of your faves though! I do love the era as a whole.

I never really have that issue, I love Big Finish’s work, but if the main show chooses to carve a different path or go for a different continuity I have no issues with it. (Though I know others do). If Susan comes back on screen for instance I would prefer that they went with a storyline where the last they met was in “The Five Doctors”.

Well he also had the biggest beard that that incarnation had in the same story when he was Rasputin

It wasn’t as flattering :sob: honestly I’m partly more excited for his spin-off cause his voice is so dreamy!

Ah yeah I’m one of those people that takes issue with the BF retconning lol, I’d tear my hair out if Susan came back and anything like this happened.

The master does always have some of the best beards in doctor who

In gay slang, a “beard” refers to a person, typically a woman, who a gay man dates publicly to hide his homosexuality, essentially acting as a cover for his true sexual orientation.

Spyfall good, but what criticisms I have are mostly in the second half. Not bad though.

The Power of the Doctor is a pretty great episode in terms of what it is for. A complete glorious fanfare celebration of 100 years of the BBC and nearly 60 years of the show at a moment in history where nobody was telling anyone if the show was going to come back after this. It’s a rare instance where someone writing the show got to sit down and start draft one with the belief of ‘oh, actually, this might be the last one for a long while’.

And it’s pretty ingenious how Chris Chibnall bounces off of The Timeless Children’s ‘Master has identity crisis, thus makes a new frankenstein-ed species to try and cope’… with ‘Master continues to have identity crisis, and just pretending to be the Doctor would not be enough - he actually has to physically be the Doctor, that’s his sole purpose now. To stop being himself, in a sense, and take over everything they are.’

It’s rare that the Master’s penchant for aliases and costumes and pretence gets to have a pin put through it. Usually, NuWho kinda shrugs and jokes its way around that, but this is a situation where it feels very purposeful.

The best story from Flux is co-written? That explains a lot :joy:

And the best parts of it are the bits completely unrelated to the rest of the Flux nonsense.

I want to hear how Power of the Doctor changed your life @DontBlink!

Yes, and cowritten by Maxine Alderton, who wrote The Haunting of Villa Diodati, and I tend to consider the best new (to Doctor Who) writer of the Chibnall era.

I strongly suspect that in this case, it was Chibnall rewriting an episode she wrote for the season that would have happened if Flux hadn’t so that it was related to Flux.

That is also a good one! Lets hope’s hope that Maxine returns and does an episode of two under RTD.

Yeah, I’d love for her to do more Doctor Who. Her episodes both are atmospheric and hit a style I really like…

I remember thinking the same about Sarah Dollard. NuWho has had a few writers now where they’ve shown great potential but just vanished, for one reason or another
