Can’t blame you! I just sadly do not have the right autism for that Would instantly get burnt out lmfao
I do have to say that personally I find the way of relisten immediately but at a much slower pace to be working very well for me. One audio of it a week, to dissect in detail is truly an amazing strategy. And sure to get Gallifrey even more solidly into my concept of self than a two week binge ever could
Don’t ask me how many times I’ve listened to all of Gallifrey. Or CM. Or the Bambera audios this week.. I have a problem…
Don’t we all?
I have the sort of autism where I will never rewatch/reread/relisten to something ever unless I’ve entirely forgotten it, or, alternatively, will rewatch it 60 times straight and until I get bored and then never think about it again. Little inbetween. Trying to prevent myself from doing the latter with gallifrey
Been listening to the first series,
I really like this range so far.
Romana and Leela are such a good odd couple.
Narvin is a fun little side character too.
Soon he will be much more…soon you will join the cult of narvin like him
Congratulations! Glad you like it
Took me a while to write this, because I’m in the sort of mood where if I see the words Romana and Leela I’ll start gazing longingly into the middle distance
that’s literally always my mood
I mean me as well but im particularly daydreamy today
So, I’m three-quarters of the way through Gallifrey Unbound Volume 2, otherwise known as Intervention: Earth[1]. I listened to this a long time ago, when I was only a Padawan in the depths of the Whoniverse, and possibly before Gallifrey VI[2].
It’s… interesting. And very different. I’m kind of liking CIA agent Ace, and Narvin is Narvin (hearing him shudder at Sol talking about making more kids is great). I’ve never really warmed to Romana III, she was more devious and Brax-like in Gallifrey VI. Here, she just kinda exists. If we get more of her in future releases (read as new Short Trips), I want to see more of her ruthless side. I remember being very confused during my first listen. I’m following it fine, but not really enjoying it that much. And it’s weird not having Leela.
So I finished the final episode of this and… it’s very bleak. I’m pretty sure I understood the plot a lot more this time. I’m actually looking forward to Enemy Lines[1], if nothing else to at least get some form of closure to this weird, melancholy branch of the Gallifrey saga. I ended up giving IE 3 stars, because it wasn’t terrible, but needed more. I wouldn’t be opposed to more self-contained stories set in this offshoot timeline with Narvin, Ace, Lucas and Trey, but I’ll be glad to be out of this duology and into the Time War. I especially feel weird not having Leela here.
the only Gallifrey release I haven’t listened to before ↩︎
Leela’s speech to Romana on the gravity bridge of the Moros.
I agree with much of what you say about Leela and IE being kind of basically fine. It’s grown on me over the years, and EL is definitely a stronger and better part but I do like the ideas of the whole thing, fighting the hopelessness of the inevitable
literally had to lie on the floor and howl when I heard that for the first time
Well, now I know the circumstances that led to where we find Romana at the beginning of Time War 1.
I love Brax. Oh, he’s the most politician to ever politician, but his hearts are in the right place. At least one of them anyway. Livia asking to spy on the CIA when he’s the source of Romana’s secrets is delightful.
Can’t find a more accurate description of him!
I can see it now! coming 2028 from Big Finish Productions: Ace and Narv: Super Spies!
Also, did Narvin just get killed, again?
