I don’t get why he got a shrine for like ten years. He was a fictional character and not even that good of a character. The show was better in the two seasons without him

I think the initial shrine was partly just because of the opportunity. How often is a location from a show so easily publicly accessible? It was definitely partially mourning, but I think partially also an excuse for a lil set visit.
And ten years is, unfortunately, lowballing it. I went almost exactly 10 years ago, and even at that point I was expecting it to be taken down at any point. It’s been 17 years[1]. When I went, it was about zero percent about mourning Ianto, and 100% being like, there’s this insane fandom thing that I absolutely need to see and participate in. And I put a note up for Tosh because that hit me way harder, and also just to be silly because this is such a silly thing. We need to erect more shrines to fallen characters. Purely for the silliness.

I was considering going to university in Cardiff just to visit it lol. Eventually decided against it, but I wonder how many DW filming locations I could have collected just from studying there.

A very exciting day, just got 100 glossy copies delivered of my new record, Civil Temperatures!
