I guess that the reason fans often want historical companions is because they have been popular in the past – Jamie, Leela (not historical, but feels like it), Charley, and Erimem. But at the same time, they’ve all felt less and less historical the longer they’ve been around, precisely because the writers realised that it was difficult to maintain that characterisation without making it grating. Which is also why poor Katarina didn’t stick around for long; she was simply too difficult to write for…
Why can’t it be tomorrow now?
I want to watch more new Doctor Who now ![]()
That’s one reason Leela was so great.
She may have been a savage, but she was a savage from the future…
I imagine they let out smoke that is TARDIS blue. ![]()
Wouldn’t it be gold regeneration smoke?
FYP
(Yeah, I’m doing a @Tian)
We’re getting two Popes?
They’re working on a bigger budget now !!!
It is all that Disney money!
I’ve thought a lot about how the Weeping Angels could be defeated, especially since the logic that the Doctor uses is that they can’t be killed because you can’t kill stone. I’ve been wondering about what would happen if one took a chainsaw (or some other sharp and powerful tool) and turned a Weeping Angel into very tiny pieces of stone. I have two ideas for what could potentially happen: the Weeping Angel is killed, and it’s dead now, or every little piece of stone is a Weeping Angel (since as shown in The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, they don’t necessarily have to be in the shape of an angel). I was also thinking that since stone can be destroyed with acid, they could theoretically be defeated if the correct acid was dumped on them. As you can tell, I’ve thought way too much about this.
What piece would you class as the Fugitive Doctor’s theme?
They must be a bit stronger than that — the rich guy from The Angels Take Manhatten was trying to break the Angel he kept prisoner, but without success, right? (Take with a pinch of salt; I can’t remember the episode very well, might be wrong!)
Oh right, that would make sense! I’ve been meaning to write a fic where the Weeping Angels are successfully defeated when acid is poured on them. I don’t remember much about acids (or anything else from my chemistry class), but making up science-y sounding fictional ways to defeat aliens isn’t anything new for Doctor Who, both canon and theoretical fanfiction that I haven’t written yet.
Just don’t get any in your eyes! ![]()
(Putting this here because it’s not entirely DW related) What should I do?
- Relisten to ep 2 of “The Cosmos and Mrs Clarke” in hopes I enjoy it more this time
- Watch the film “The Tragedy of Macbeth” for the first time
- Rewatch a show Colin starred in
- Watch an opera I haven’t seen before
I’m watching “TToM” now, thanks everyone.
