Talking about The Monk has reminded me of this very short fic I wrote about The Nun and Tamsin (requires context of 8DAs to understand, also the fact that The Nun suffers memory loss!).
Someone you knew
Despite the almost endless size of the Nuns TARDIS, she had a tendency to leave it a bit of a mess. There were just so many historical objects to collect and not so much desire to put them in the right place. It wasn’t meant to be some kind of museum! It’s just a TARDIS, even if she also used it as a home a lot of the time.
The library was a good example of this. A lot of books stacked in random spaces, no real order to it. Yet everything was kept in good condition. That was the most important thing to her.
Currently she was running into the big problem with organising her collections, getting very distracted with every other thing she picked up.
She put an ancient Summarian script back on the shelf on what she had assigned the “ancient earth human texts of at least >1000BC” section. Next to it was what looked like a modern photo album that she didn’t seem to recognise.
She pulled it off the shelf. It would have to be moved somewhere else, but first she’d have to find out what was inside to properly categorise it… and she was just curious.
She sat down on her library sofa and flipped through the pages. It seemed to be something she put together in a previous incarnation, the one in the orange suit with the balding and poor eyesight.
Besides pictures of herself, there were lots of historical artifacts. She must have been very proud of whatever it was she was doing at the time.
On one of the pages was a picture of a woman with long black hair.
Something drew her to the photo, although she didn’t recognise the woman. Something about it made her feel sick. Sick with rage. Sick like she wanted to throw the album across the room and scream.
This wasn’t abnormal for her. Time travel related memory loss seemed to have this weird side effect for The Nun where she still felt memories she didn’t have. Once she found an old disk labeled “Platicine demo” and when she listened to it she felt overwhelming dread and fear, that felt an unusual response to a song that was mostly banging and yelling.
She’d been staring at the photo for a few minutes before she realised she was crying, and she shut the album without a second though.
She’d keep the photo of course, but she didn’t want to look at it ever again. It was clear given her response to it that whoever this woman was must be someone she deeply hated.
it was starting to seem like she hated everyone she’d ever known.
