Oh yes, The Fish Doctors!
I have watched it countless times! It’s so, so good and so, so funny!
And An Adventure in Space and Time is a heartfelt story about the inception of Doctor Who!

I literally watch Fish Doctors whenever I need a pick-me-up, it’s so delightful and comforting to watch. You can really feel the love in it - as you can in Day, but it’s a the kind of celebration of Who that I couldn’t ask for more from
I watched that for the first time a few days ago and it’s so good?! Really funny, and clearly made with love
Also I just got the audiobook of the novelisation of day of the doctor since I’ve heard many good things about it, hopefully will get around to that soon
Honestly, for me the whole of that anniversary year felt like one, long celebration. I was collecting the Destiny of the Doctors audio series and the IDW comic book series, the name of which escapes me. But it was nice having these special anniversary releases to look forward to each month.
The anniversary week itself was a lot of fun too. On the Thursday I was in London for the big anniversary event at the Excel and watched An Adventure in Space and Time in my hotel room. Then I spent the Friday at the Excel which was a lot of fun.
The whole weekend was wrapped up on the Saturday with Day of the Doctor and The Fiveish Doctors. I loved (and still do love) Day. I think everyone involved did a great job of celebrating the past but also telling a good, fun story and looking to the future. And The Fiveish Doctors was the perfect way to end the anniversary celebrations in my opinion.
Can we also just take a moment to appreciate the absolute peak writing from Moffat
WAR DOCTOR: I have no desire to survive this.
MOMENT: Then that’s your punishment. If you do this, if you kill them all, then that’s the consequence. You live.
“Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame, whatever the cost.”
etc
Yeah I honestly think Moffat is the best NuWho writer, I’m so glad he was able to do the 50th and despite some behind-the-scenes issues it all went so well!
The first time I watched Night of the Doctor, 30 seconds in I had to have a break to do zoomies up and down the stairs in my house. I then put it back to the beginning and managed to watch 90 seconds before doing zoomies up and down the stairs again… I was just too surprised and excited. And also aware that I needed to make the moment last because it was so short and so beautiful. I think I needed four attempts before I was able to watch the whole thing. One of my favourite Doctor Who experiences.
10/10
This one?
The art styles were hit and miss but it was a fun overall storyline with gratuitous cameos galore
Same!! I was on a family trip with no access to the internet until one motel had some complimentary wifi. I pulled up Facebook and literally the first thing on my feed was NotD posted by the Doctor Who fb page and since I hadn’t been spoilered At All, I literally yelled OH MY GOD when Eight showed up, scaring the hell out of my mum ahaha.
(My boy Drake in that picture, love it!)
Yeah I don’t understand the hate for The Day of the Doctor. I know it’s more of a celebration of the idea of the Doctor, and the Time War, than it is of 50 years of the show, but really I think that was what was needed.
It works as a brilliant episode even if it is the first Doctor Who thing you’ve ever seen!
I still remember when The Curator appeared I literally got off the couch and watched the ending of Day stood up because I couldn’t contain my excitement
That’s the one. You’re right that the art was definitely variable, although that seems to be true of most Doctor Who comics in my view. But it was a fun series. I haven’t read it in years, I’ll have to dig it out sometime.
It still surprises me that there are fans who hate Day of the Doctor. I mean, are they even fans of Doctor Who? It’s glorious.
The only reason I can think of for people hating DotD is them just hating NuWho in general, but come on, those people need to get over it tbh
&
MOMENT: You know the sound the TARDIS makes? That wheezing, groaning. That sound brings hope wherever it goes.
WAR DOCTOR: Yes. Yes, I like to think it does.
MOMENT: To anyone who hears it, Doctor. Anyone, however lost.
(The sound of the time rotor is heard.)
MOMENT: Even you.
But I never say time rotor, sorry I have always & will always call it the uppy downy thing
I was very tempted to put that one too!
I just remembered that Google made a google doodle which was a full game for the 50th!
Would this count for the guide?
