Today, after exactly 10 months, I’ve finished the Jon Pertwee era.
I must say it was quite the ride and the quality of each serial was pretty solid. I still prefer Hartnell and Troughton to him, but I’ll sure miss Pertwee as the Doctor.
And now, off I go with starting properly the Tom Baker era!

Indeed, if it took me 10 months to finish 5 seasons, I wonder how much it’d take to watch 7!
You could make it seven years just for the authentic experience

How goes the progress?
Started the last serial of Season 15!
Invasion of Time is one of my favorites. It’s just a lot of fun and watching the interactions between the Doctor and Borusa are fantastic.
I have just watched Invasion of Dinosaurs and for sure, Pertwee is my favorite Doctor until now. It is amazing: I have been consistently enjoying every single story of his era – something I can’t even say about the NuWho Doctors!!
It is an enormously consistent era, I feel. There are blips (e.g. The Time Monster) but even these I can hugely enjoy when in the right mood. However, you really get a sense of how much work (and how much love) the Letts/Dicks team put into the show over that five year period. They really cared about making sure they were able to deliver consistently well made and entertaining television, week by week, across each season. It’s a wonderful era.
Actually, it wasn’t just the production team. The main cast also really seemed to care. A lotbis said about the UNIT family and how homely UNIT stories were, but even stories without UNiT had that lovely warmth. Pertwee, Manning, Delgado and Sladen really gave it their all (so did the sublime Caroline John, but all her stories were UNIT storiess too).
What a great era! It took me a while to finish but it was quite a journey! I miss Jo Grant by the way. Who was your favorite companion?
Cannot choose between Liz Shaw and Jo Grant. I love Sarah too, but she’s very much more a Fourth Doctor companion to me. Liz and Jo were totally different to each other but BOTH were superb.
