No, not an elimination game, just a festive thread to share your favourite Christmas films and argue about whether Die Hard counts.
What films are your traditional rewatches?
Every year my family rewatches most of these:
(although we shun the GODAWFUL Home Alone 4, Home Alone 5 occasionally gets an outing and the terrible terrible reboot with Aisling Bea doesn’t even get uttered).
Possibly my favourite of all time is:
And 2 usually gets an outing along with rocks but NEVER #3 Dude Where’s My Donkey.
Obviously we also watch this:
And for years when our kids were younger we watched this and we still crave watching it.

Muppets Christmas Carol is the best adaptation of that story by a mile!
Other than that, I don’t tend to watch many Christmas movies. I might watch Home Alone if it’s on TV.
This year I’m going to rewatch all of Wallace and Gromit in anticipation of the new one!

Why do you rewatch Home Alone 3. It is just bad!

I think I might be looking forward to the new Wallace and Gromit more than I am Doctor Who! The return of Feathers McGraw and it’s an hour long!!

The kids still like that one. It’s not as awful as 4 or the recent Disney+ reboot.

Well, I like Home Alone, but my wife loathes it, so I rarely watch it. The Disney+ reboot is utter garbage.
Die Hard is another great. And it’s definitely a Christmas movie!
The Swedish comedy In Bed With Santa is another favourite, and we have watched it this year already.
It’s A Wonderful Life is very lovely as well.

OMG that title! Looks like a complete cheesefest.
I saw this, was fun watching with a couple friends but I would not call it a good movie.

I mostly remember that it had a cool remote-controlled car and that it was bad. I have not seen any after 3. But I did see this yesterday:

Oh, and Love Actually is one my wife and I often watch. It’s cheesy but lovely.

I love the obvious one, Muppet Christmas Carol.
This is great.
& if you like Die Hard, Under Siege etc then this is a must watch.
When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

I haven’t had time to watch these yet this year, but we always watch der kleine Lord (Little Lord Fauntleroy)
and drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel, sort of a Cinderella adaptation, around Christmas
I really hope I can still fit them in this year

I tend to answer Die Hard because it’s funny and that film is near perfect.
But the best Christmas movie is It’s a Wonderful Life , utterly beautiful film.

I’ve never watched It’s a Wonderful Life.
I have, however, seen It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie which is basically the same story - and not brilliant.
