Thaaaaaaaat was scary as hell! Those shots of it just barely visible behind Aliss were horrifying! If I knew the tardis.guide policy on swearing, Iād be cussing up a storm! Damn!
When Gatwa said that the Midnight Entity played games my first thought was: are they trying to make it a part of the Pantheon of Gods?
With the mirrors being broken, my first thought was something to do with the Mara.
I was absolutely convinced this was gonna be an angels episode, the broken mirrors, the snapped necks, I was expecting her to wipe sand from her eye too.
Glad I wasnāt the only one that was scared theyād do that for a moment, especially when they mentioned the laughing. I am just really thankful it didnāt. I prefer the midnight creature to stand in itās own way. It does that really well after all in my opinion.
Well,it did escape in the end so that could still be the caseā¦
The credits give the creature as āIt has no nameā. Not quite as catchy as āThe Midnight entityā.
I⦠donāt know what to think, ngl I had to force myself to finish the episode. I donāt know if I would call it bad, but I didnāt enjoy it.
I enjoyed the squad leader, I felt like she was the star of the episode, even dwarfing the Doctor and Belinda for me, very good character. I speculated that Aliss being deaf would somehow make her immune, and Iām glad I was right. I felt like they set up the twist perfectly.
As for what I didnāt enjoy, I felt like they overused jump scares a bit too much, but then again I donāt really handle them well. I found the connection to Midnight entirely pointless, I felt like the episode was nothing like Midnight, and making it a āsequelā seemed entirely pointless. +
I will not be watching this episode again, mainly because it absolutely terrifies me . Now I get the pleasure of doing the other terrifying thing, deciding on a rating. (Edit: 8/10, I came around to the episode, itās pretty great.)
I loved this. Sadly the reveal didnāt land with me nearly as much as it wouldāve had it not become common knowledge everywhere that this was going to be the villain.
Itās always great to have another horror focused episode, although I do feel kinda the same with wondering exactly why it needed to be a Midnight sequel. Could have easily stood strongly on its own without inviting the comparisons.
During the episode, I thought it was really tense, but I never got too scared. Now that Iām standing in my living room alone at 2am. Oh yeah. Iām horrified. Great ending.
I do feel like watching in broad daylight made it less scary but initial thoughts are it was really good. The side cast were great too, especially Aliss. She was fab in EastEnders so I knew sheād knock it out of the park! The reveal is good just, not hugely impactful for me given the fact we knew abt it for so long I hate how RTD2 is plagued with leaks. I did love the music call backs that was superb.
For the most part RTDās attempts at horror leave me unimpressed. Midnight and Wild Blue Yonder do little for me. But well well well, this is a step in the right direction. A proper meat and potatoes Who! Rose Ayling-Ellis knocked it out of the park as I knew she would, and while Iām unfamiliar with the rest of the guest cast I thought they all did well. The main question Iām taking away from this one is when the Doctor said the Entity knew his name, does that mean āthe Doctorā orā¦?
If they hadnāt actually flashed back and shown David Tennantās face from 11 seasons ago, this would be an easy 5/5. As it is, 4.5/5 isnāt bad. Itās just a touch less standalone now, which I always find annoying.
I think the fact that it behaved differently really helped. It doesnāt necessarily have to be the exact same creature. It could be another individual with different prefrences/abilities, or just another species from the same planet
The massacre scene did have diminishing returns on the ājust toss them up in the airā death effect, but it was still effective
Given that he told Rubyās family his name at the end of Space Babies, itās not that much of a secret anymore.
Also, it definitely escaped, right? The body counter showed 4 people in the airlock at the end when only 3 people could have gone in, so it 100% got out then
I mean they confirmed it in the end I belive? In the last scene? (or at least super heavily implied it)
But thatās actually such a good point, I didnāt even notice the airlock counter showing four people, but thatās actually so cool.
Oh yeah, Iād forgotten about that!
Did he?
I donāt remember that
Neither do I
