Could’ve been a cut scene. But then they realised they needed to keep something there to show us that Belinda had left the TARDIS to go find the shop. Otherwise you’d have an even jankier cut. Maybe they could’ve just shown Belinda pushing her way through the crowds, and cut there, and then the next time we see her she’s down the alleyway towards the shop? Oh well.
I definitely suspect a cut scene
I seem to recall a scene in the “This week on Doctor Who” on insta which wasn’t in the episode too. It was Abby using her device but from a different angle/location in the shop. I really wish this ep had been ever so slightly longer
I almost forgot that scene with Belinda even happened, it was that much of a non-factor. Thinking back on it, that was definitely a “Milo’s failed me” moment.
I loooved it!
We can’t do half points but its a 9.5/10 for me. The half point is I’m not sure it has the rewatchability for me that my favourite episodes have.
I loved the idea, the acting was great all around, the images when the stories were told were beautiful, the costumes were gorgeous and I am so glad I have avoided all spoilers this season because when the Fugitive Doctor appeared I paused to scream in glee.
There’s something about Jo Martin’s Doctor that I find very commending even though we don’t know much about her (and I haven’t listened to her BF story yet).
I like the idea that the more the Doctor is confronted with elements of their “pre-Hartnell” past, the more their memories come back.
All in all, this was a beautiful episode, quite original, moving, funny too, with surprises. I came in knowing nothing about it and I enjoyed the ride it took me on.
Oh one hour episodes you’d be so class…
Yeah, forget my other theories, this is the one that makes the most sense. It fits with how those fob watches have worked in episodes like Family Of Blood and Utopia, where reminders of that past life trigger memory recall.
I still haven’t watched class
Highly recommended. Best and most consistent spin-off DW has ever had.
It is okay. Better then Torchwood s01-02 worse then Torchwood s03-04 and SJA.
Oooh I’m glad to hear that! Some people thought it was awful
People are allowed to be wrong. /j
I quite literally do not remember the last time I enjoyed an episode of DW this much. Though I generally do prefer my Who on the SF side to the Fantasy, I loved how rooted in Nigerian culture this was. It was great to get away from the anglocentric London type of story, and everything felt lived in and real. I loved the window with the drawings and when the titles started in there, that was delightful.
And the themes!!! I loved how rich it was in themes! Rewriting your own story! Kindness and forgiveness! A stark contrast to last week and a better story for it, I think.
And the audible gasp I gasped when Paul McGann I live for crumbs of him on my screen
I went full at that moment, that was awesome!
I love when they do that kind of stuff with the title. It was the best part of Devil’s Chord when they used the piano to start the title.
I almost wish they’d committed to the bit and had the entire title sequence ‘in the window’, maybe replacing the actors’ names with “The Doctor” and “Belinda Chandra”
Doctor Who watching Doctor Who
Trial Of A Time Lord 2: Trial Harder
When Belinda’s story played out on the window, but we saw it as just regularly filmed TV, I wonder if 15 saw it all the way we did. In other words, did 15 see Mrs Flood popping into the hospital and talking to Belinda? And did he wonder why suddenly Ruby’s old neighbour knew Belinda?
