Before the next episode airs, here’s some random speculation: Could it be an “Agatha All Along” situation? As I mentioned above, the overall composition of the various parts of the episode felt messy to me. Perhaps this was done deliberately, hinting that it might all be a dream. What really triggered my speculation, though, is the moment when the certificates touch. Since they are “the same,” some timey-wimey stuff happens.
That’s not unheard of in Doctor Who (see for example Father’s Day · Doctor Who S1 • Episode 8 · TARDIS Guide ). But most of the time, the same thing from different times isn’t really treated as the same (younger/older versions → not considered the same), and therefore, no such effect occurs. Now, I seem to recall Belinda asking the Doctor if such a thing could happen, and that brings me to this question (real spoiler for “Agatha All Along” ahead—stop reading if you’d like to avoid the central twist of that show): What if Belinda, much like Billy, is unknowingly creating her own world?
I do think that’s very unlikely. The story is probably just as it appeared. However, I still wanted to put the theory out there nonetheless.

If you add together the viewing figures for the top 10 TV shows for the week 31 March - 06 April 2025, the total viewership is 48,797,000. If you add together the viewing figures for the top 10 TV shows for the week 01 Apr - 07 Apr 2019, the total viewership was 75,576,942. That’s a 35% drop, and that’s only six years ago. Viewing habits have changed enormously.

Well, those are the viewing numbers for TRR after 7 days. I’d say that’s quite strong, and shows just how many people watched the episode either before the BBC broadcast or in the days after it. More proof that overnight ratings mean nothing.

The number on its own is irrelevant, you have to look at the placement compared to other shows that day or week.
But even that is irrelevant because the BBC might want to keep the show on for its popularity with certain groups of people (under 30 for example) or because of how well it sells abroad, or because they only just renewed it and paid for the sets to be built, or because it’s the Controller’s favourite show, or a million other reasons.
You can’t tell the future of the show just by the numbers.
If bad chart positions were a problem then it would have been cancelled in S9 or S10 or S12 when they were at an all-time low.
