Episode Discussion: The Reality War

I did love her meeting another Doctor, so yeah, why not indeed? :star_struck:

Now that could be fun. Unironically

LITERALLY!! I feel terrible right now disliking it so much. I don’t think an episode has ever ever made me feel this way. Especially factoring in its a regeneration story, it is really the worst one.

Yes! Thank you. I see all this grousing and people saying its the worst story ever made just hours after the whole theatre I was in full on applauding it, it’s like I’m taking crazy pills

Extremely happy for you! While I really didn’t enjoy it, I’m always happy to see other folks enjoy it

Thanks for articulating my thoughts for me. I was so angered from the finale that my review was short.

I’m so glad that some people are loving it. I bet it would have been awesome to see it in the cinema

Changed my pfp for a bit just to remind myself why I love this universe after that episode. But my kitten Lottie is still my pfp on every other app lol.

Still… don’t want a comfort show just to become a ā€œcontent generatingā€ gimmick…

You shouldn’t feel like that :hugs: We might disliked the episode but anyone is allowed to like any episode

Belinda: didn’t do anything, now has a kid with a random person we’d never met

Ruby: didn’t get to say goodbye to her Doctor

Mel: showed up with a perm, did nothing else

Rose Noble: was there for no reason again

Susan: missing again

The Rani: eaten

I’m not quite sure why exactly he regenerated. It would have been easy to have Omega just harm him a bit. It was a sacrifice for some reason, I’m not sure. Also I don’t think it was really worth bringing Omega back (looking so different) for only about three minutes. Basically just like Sutekh, but doing even less. Should have stuck to The Two Ranies (nice Two Ronnies joke!).

SERIOUSLY THOUGH SHE WAS FORGOTTEN IN THIS EPISODE :sob:

I just have to say I really enjoyed this episode. My only issue was no Susan. Other than that I I thought it was awesome! I’m actually pretty excited about the new Doctor as well! I wonder how this will play out.

I am genuinely so happy people liked it. I really wish (world) I had.

I think she was there to show Conrad’s bigotry. In his wish world , she didn’t even existed

just got out of cinema. im speechless. i think i just need to sit and ponder about this episode and see what happens in the future with this and how rtd2 ends. i need to see his whole picture of what arcs he wants to tell and see who takes over.

I always like that bit, I assume they just forgot, because it’s quite a significant plot element otherwise to leave as a fairly hidden part after the episode’s finished.

Well. Don’t think I liked that very much.

Honestly I feel insulted as a childfree woman that Belinda had memories of motherhood and a fake child implanted into her by a sexist, homophobic conspiracy theorist who made a world where women are supposed to be housewives and raise children, and instead of feeling violated by this (you know, like how literally every other person felt about Conrad messing with their lives AND how she reacted in her very first episode to the Doctor testing her DNA without her consent), the entire second half of this episode was devoted to making sure she will still be a mother.

Is this why the actual plot was resolved in 30 minutes? Was the Rani anticlimactically eaten by a bad CGI monster that itself was easily beaten just so that we could spend the rest of the episode rewriting a woman’s life so she could be a mother??? What the ā– ā– ā– ā– .

The Rani was wasted. Omega was wasted (and ugly). Why did doing that cause him to regenerate? Why did 13 show up? Why Billie Piper? What was the point of Rogue’s little cameo last episode? Where is Susan? (so glad Poppy wound up not being the Doctor’s btw I was worried they were going to make her Susan’s mom)

Well, that was a jumbled mess. There were bits I liked, but overall… :frowning:

Okay, I do like Anita, was actually good with her and the Time Hotel showing up again.

Far more focus on Poppy then I would have liked. Not a fan of RTD doubling down on ā€œall time lords are deadā€. Belinda’s character from the beginning has gotten massacred, and turning someone who was fiercely independent into all about being a mother…

Honestly there were a million better things they could have done to finish up Poppy’s story, too.

What a waste to have the new Rani eaten, even if I like Mrs. Flood still being out there.

ā€œHey, Carla Sunday, I’m giving away babies today, want one?ā€

Susan wasn’t even mentioned, though I was predicting her being written out, I just thought there’d be some writing.

13’s cameo was great. They should have scrapped the rest of the episode and just given us an hour of 13 and 15 in the TARDIS.

15’s regeneration. I saw blonde hair, for a moment was very happy, then realised that wasn’t Jodi.

What’s terrible is I did like the Ruby/Belinda/Doctor/Poppy scene in the TARDIS… because I had a better explanation on what was going on then the show did. I thought that we were now in the Doctor’s wish world, and Ruby was able to see through it. I thought a bunch of the stuff I thought was bad was actually hints to that…

My thoughts for the moment, anyways. Maybe I’ll feel a little better about it later.

Seems surreal to me that RTD brought Jodie back having her quote what Traughton said to Pertwee in the 3 Doctors ā€œYou’ve redecorated. I don’t like itā€ and yet couldnt find it in him to know his audience well enough to write a decent story.
