Everyone stop being mean to @Tian when he’s RIGHT
I also feel like there is a big difference between a robot and a human. Is he making a calculation or a joke? What data is he basing his calculations on that he does on the fly?
I don’t think we are supposed to analyse this too deeply. He’s a child genius, so probably great with numbers, and we see him interact with computers a lot, so he probably makes some caculations during that time. And he rides a very special Segway so he might have some extra apps in it that we haven’t seen yet.
Even if we are not supposed to be analysing this, I would say that this makes him annoying, whereas K9 is not.
I can see how some people find him annoying. And how that is the main reason to dislike him. For me, he’s in these two episodes just enough to not turn annoying, but still feel like a proper character. At least compared to Rose, who is completely wasted.
Mad to me there’s a debate over Morris, I have no opinion either way
I hope that he is not in Updates on “The War Between the Land (Parasites) and the Sea (Devils)”
Hates kids with intelligence. Hates jokes. Okay, got it…
I would argue he’s barely a character. He could’ve been replaced by the Vlinx scooting round the place and nothing would change.
Interesting… To me they’re maybe my favourite RTD2 original character thus far, that isn’t in the TARDIS team. Probably followed by Rogue, which still to this day surprises me (I went in with so low expectations).
I love Maestro so much!!
I like the idea of Maestro and the potential of the character.
I think the acting genuinely is the worst there has ever been in the entire history of the Whoniverse, and I’m not even being hyperbolic when I say that that includes the K9 show…
(I know others feel quite differently)
(That does not include BBV BTW )
That would have been crazy!
One of my favorite Things with Doctor Who and easily ever since joining this Forum is to see how my Opinions have shifted over Time, especially with those Episode Discussion, it can be quite fun to look back and see what I said as my first Reaction. A lot of those (at least a couple that I revisited for Season 1/Series 14 still hold up for the most Part, some of which have changed drastically (for example my Opinion on Space Babies is much more in its favor these Days).
But enough of my Ramble. Let’s talk about Legend of Ruby Sunday.
Looking back, I don’t fully disagree with everything I said. I still both love and hate the Handling of Susan (and as much as I want her back, I am not quite sure if this will work, if it ever comes true due to the Buildup of Expectations of such a Return).
As far as other Things are concerned, there is a lot to like about in Legend of Ruby Sunday, I mean I see plenty of People who think it’s brilliant despite some Disappointment in regard to EoD (which I am perfectly happy with, always happy seeing People enjoy a Doctor Who Episode that I don’t). That said, having now more Time to reflect, I feel like I finally cracked my Issue with this Episode: It’s just Build Up. Good Build Up, one could argue, even great Build Up and of course it would be Build Up, it being Build Up is not necessarily the Part of the Problem for me, rather than it’s just kinda is just that. Not to draw much of a Comparison, but while yes every first Part of the Two (sometimes Three-) Part Finale has some sort of Build Up to it, there is still enough going on for that Episode to be a compelling Narrative on its own. Of course, there is nothing wrong with having your first Part just being a Build Up to your big Finale, it’s a valid Approach and one that can work. But a risky one, I’d argue because if the Pay-Off for said Build Up isn’t one that feels particular satisfying to you, then said Build-Up no matter how much you liked it can feel much more insignificant(?)
Besides that, there are other Things I didn’t really like about this Episode. I am not a big Fan of UNIT in its current Irritation for various Reasons and well they are a large Part of this Episode, so that certainly doesn’t help. While I somewhat liked the Sutekh Reveal, in Hindsight it really doesn’t hit as much to me as it did once before. And probably a few other Points that I neglected to mention.
Admittedly I am not quite sure if what I am saying is making much sense, I hope it does, but it wouldn’t be surprising to me if this rather feels a bit too rambley and nonsensical at times. All in all, I am intrigued to see how Episode 7 is in Comparison to this one. And again cannot stretch enough that I am happy that plenty of others find this Episode (or the whole Two-Parter) good or somewhat enjoyable, again nothing more joyful than other People enjoying Doctor Who!
