I will say that Miss Flood said she was a Time Lady shortly before saying she was the Rani, and the Rani has been previously mentioned in 15’s run.
They’d use titles like the Doctor, or the Bishop, or the Rani, or the Conquistador.
So there were a few references for new people.

I think that the part that works is that Fifteen has had a sorrow that he is the last of his kind, and from that aspect, this revelation has some impact. The difference with YANA, as you say, is that it was teased more that he was not alone, and how he was not alone worked really well. But I hope that the next episode could give a bit of an emotional payoff from it. But that is too early to tell.

I will say I’m feeling a lot less anxious today re: Susan. Even though I knew it was coming and I’ve had weeks of discussions about the possibilities of the EU ramifications it still caught me off guard and left me worried. I do share the excitement more so now I’ve had time to digest and calm down!
Also, as I said yesterday, Unleashed literally referenced she’s been in audios, and she’s had some approved post-filming or mid filming so I’m sure he’s gonna respect this one for once ! I’ve a sliver of hope and its defo calmed me down aha.

This is probably the first episode in a while I’m actually conflicted on. I liked the episode the first time I watched it. But the second time when the focus was away from the reveals, the politics of the episode were pretty bad. I still enjoyed it, but its gone from a solid 4 to around a 3.
I dont think its as bad as some people say, but the episode feels unfinished. Kid being punished and the corporation responsible for the suffering not, just taints the episode. In Kerblam, at least the company changed to be a bit better, this episode doesn’t really show us any lasting consequences for them. It needed exposition at the end showing something happening to the Hellions to improve their situation. II think some of its flaws can be explained with it being written in mid-2022, but the ending just feels unfinished. I hope we see Kid again, or a future novelisation fixes my problems with it.
Susan returning was amazing, I really hope Carole Ann Ford returns again for more than a brief cameo, and the Rani’s both seem stellar (I just hope Flood-Rani doesn’t remain subservient to Panjabi’s Rani).
The soundtrack and visuals were definitely stunning, either way excited for next week’s episode.

I hope they canonise Susan’s War and the 8th Doctor stuff, but its a pipedream. Which is a shame, but considering how its happened before I don’t really mind as long as any new TV Susan content is good I’ll be happy.
