Just thought it’d be good to have a place people could share and discuss the wide variety of weird/interesting/niche/useful doctor who related websites (aside from this one of course!)
This thread is inspired by this website, which has recorded the air dates of the show (and reruns!) for pretty much every country Doctor Who aired in!
Well one of my favourites for finding quotes is
You can search for any word or phrase and instantly find when it was used in Classic or NuWho.
I was going to build a bit of a competitor to this, as source their transcripts from the same place I did, but Rob keeps adding new features and I don’t think I can compete it now tells you the exact timing of the quote and shows a screenshot alongside it!
My only complaint is that the source of transcripts I used can frequently contain mistakes, which I am painstakingly going through when I get a chance and fixing them, but he has the originals which won’t have those fixes.
I feel like we should probably actually throw that place the transcripts are sourced from in here, too:
http://www.chakoteya.net/DoctorWho/index.html
Things like PROBE, Tales of the TARDIS, and K9 are in the Extras section.
(And Star Trek’s on there, too…)
Whoseum.net is what I use to get info about upcoming, non-BF, releases. It’s not perfect, but it works for me.
yelling I was just going to tragicalhistorytour.com to recommend that as a site for pictures (it’s great!!) but school have blocked it for ‘pornography’
https://gallifrey.sosugary.com/index.php is another great resource for pictures (not blocked on the wifi here for some reason…?)
I like therandomiser.net for picking random Doctor Who episodes
Metebelis Two Podcast’s website has a Doctor Who preference revealer which I use a lot for episode rankings
Have you seen our Randomiser?
It has some extra features, works with every story - not just TV - and even lets you filter it by episodes you’ve seen, rated by the community, and more!
I worked pretty hard on it, got some more features to add too
Haven’t had need to try it yet, but it does look pretty cool. Having the option for other media is nice, though I know for me if I’m looking for something random I’ll just be looking for a TV episode/serial. The options for availability on streaming is cool too. Good work on that.
Yeah my old uni internet used to do that too?? Wild
Heavily recommend checking out Nate Bumber’s tumblr page (On The Fringes of War) if you feel like taking a deep dive into DW and Faction Paradox lore. It’s fascinating stuff.
