Doctor Who Target Novelisations

I have been struggling my way through Doctor Who: The Eaters of Light. I don’t know why, but this novel never really clicked with me. I don’t remember thinking the TV story was anything special either. I gave the book 2/5.

I really liked the novel, but I do appreciate that it definitely won’t be to everyone’s taste.

I read Twice Upon a Time last week, and it was a good book. Particularly interesting as it seems to be written in the style of the classic Targets.

Just started it and it seems much better!

I have finished “Twice Upon a Time” now, and it was a great book. Except for getting the First Doctor wrong a couple of times, it was really good. Maybe better than the episode.

But at least it included an explanation for why the First Doctor acted out of character, unlike the TV episode

Only one modern Doctor Target novel left. Witchfinders, here I come!

I love that book so much

The start of it is really good. I also like Sophie Aldred as a narrator.

It was a good book. It added enough to feel fresh. This is definitely a book I would recommend!

I really liked the bit with Willa joining Clara and Me in the Diner TARDIS :slightly_smiling_face: It came out of nowhere, but I enjoyed it

Yeah, that was great! I really want a BF spin-off with them.

I am so excited for the Lux Novel, I just know that James Goss will do something brilliant with it

It is interesting that we are getting episode 1-3 as novels.

I think that I am most excited for Empire of Death. There is something interesting about reading stories that did not really land perfectly in the TV episode.

The Lux and Well covers are gorgeous! Goss doing Lux makes me super excited for meta and format stuff too

Don’t like the Empire cover at all - the composition seems squiffy.

Lux is good but I feel it’s missing something. I like The Well. Not sure about 15’s face on Robot Revolution though.

It’s very asymmetric yeah. Like everything’s to the right of the page but the left is just empty space?

This means that 5 out of 8 episodes from last season will have novels (6 out of 9 if you count Church on Ruby Road), which is almost the whole season. I am also interested in what material from earlier drafts they are going to include.

I’m surprised Dot & Bubble never got one!
