I love character creation, and I like playing the game but I wish there was more to do.

Seasons 
It adds different weather and seasonal events such as Christmas, New Years, ect ect, it’s a real all rounder back that works with pretty much anything you do so generally it’s the first to be recommended

Here is my quick and dirty list of things to check out.
Expansions: Seasons, Growing Together, and City Living.
Game Packs: They’re pretty hyper focused, idk if I would suggest any of them, though maybe look at the ones that add Occult sims, aka Vampires, Warewolves, and Realm of Magic.
Stuff Packs: Laundry Day and Tiny Living, everyone loves doing laundry and I really love building tiny houses (they also give a buff).
Kits: idk.
I would suggest reading all the descriptions of each pack to see if it’s actually something you’d be interested in, I’ll include a couple videos that rank each pack from a Simmer I like. Here is the first one, and this one is updated to include the ones that were released after the first video (doesn’t include the new hobbies DLC though)
I also feel obligated to mention that the Life and Death expansion added a new mechanic to the game which lets you reincarnate into a new body at any life stage once you die, yes, they basically added regenerations 
. (Don’t but it just for that)

Can also be used to create a trap street with the quantum shade\chronolock and memory worms and stuff!
Or Ravening or Anti-Phoenixing as Jeje calls it.

And it’s so painfully slow to update on my laptop - gameplay is fast, but updates are awfully long
