Dinosaurs on a Space Station - An Ark: Survival Evolved Thread

Played a bit more Ark this morning. Tamed a replacement female Pteranodon and continued with the base building. Unfortunately, my forges were in the way, so metal production has been halted. Next time I get on, it’s going out and gathering a lot of stone.

Successful stone run and more base building.

Base building is slow going. It’s a grind right now[1] because I need a lot of stone and wood to build my floors. Metal forging is still ongoing. Once I’ve got in my floors, then I can put together my hatchery, egg storage, cryofridges and breeding area.

Been playing more Ark. Lots of Argentavis resource runs[1]. Discovered that the massive base I was building wouldn’t work without lots of jagged edges and corners[2], so I reworked my base. It will be multiple buildings. Right now I have a two-story building (minus second-floor roof) as my crafting and home. Next will be building my hatchery.

Done more resource runs. Tamed a female Raptor and bred with my male. Stuck the egg in the fridge. Built my hatchery building, but haven’t put anything in it yet.

There, finished the Hatchery and am incubating a batch of 10 Baryonyx.

So I hatched a batch of 10 Baryonyx eggs which resulted in 13 individual Baryonyx. I imprinted on them, stuck fish in their inventories, and then went on a metal run[1]. When I got back, I found the inventory of one that had died. Turns out I lost five to starvation. So I still have 8 individuals. Hopefully there’s some females among them so I can breed them.

Played a bit more Ark this afternoon. Bred my creature pairs, then went on a pelt gathering run to the redwoods. Then took my Baryoynx pack out of cryo sleep to level up.

More Ark. Been doing some resource runs up north now that I have fur armor. Breeding my Baryonyx. And finding a potential spot for a bigger base. I’ve got a couple spot picked out on the opposite side of the map, but they’re in more dangerous areas. So, I’ll have to use my current base to build parts for my new base.

Built a new base on the opposite side of the Island, just north of the swamp. A bit more dangerous over here, but closer to more resources. I also tamed a pair of Sarcosuchus that I’ll breed when I get back to my other base.

Played more this afternoon. Furnished the inside a little, finished the roof and added an entry hall. Had hoped to have a connecting hall to a hatchery building, but the terrain wouldn’t allow that. So, I’ll have to build that separate (or do some creative rearranging).

Figured out how (and where) to build my new hatchery so that it connects to my house. I’m in the middle of that when I get back on. Plus I’ve been ferrying stuff from my old base to my new base. Immediate current task is to put my forges back into production.

Played more Ark. Did some more supply transfer runs, a metal/explorer note run, and continued construction on my base.

Trying to decide what to hatch a batch of next once I finish my hatchery in my new base on Ark. Therefore, I’m giving you guys a poll! You can choose up to 3.

  • Raptor
  • Argentavis
  • Kaprosuchus
  • Therizinosaurus
  • Ankylosaurus
  • Carnotaurus
  • Megalosaurus
  • Megalania (think giant Komodo Dragon)
  • Pachycephalosaurus
  • Tek Parasaur
  • Tek Stegosaurus
  • Terror Bird

So I finished my base (for now) and am breeding my existing creatures. Once I’ve finished with that, I’ll look at the poll above and make a descision on what to hatch in bulk next.

I don’t know what a Terror Bird is, but it sounds really cool!

Could you tell us more about it?

Definitely. Terror Birds were a group of predatory birds that lived in North and South America during the Cenozoic Era. They stood on two legs and were most likely flightless.

So Terror Birds and Ankylosaurus won the poll[1], so I’ll be hatching a batch each of those. I hopped on for a bit this morning and have continued leveling and then breeding my tames. All I have left is my Baryonyx pack.

Finished leveling and breeding my Baryonyx pack, then hatched a batch of Terror Birds. Once they’re adults, I’ll name and color them, then breed them for the first time.
