Can we have an option to revert it back to the previous compact version. Personally I think the current one looks kinda ugly..

You can change it so “Completion dates” is the default view, by going to My Account Settings → Customisation and then “Diary Customisation”, change Default Diary Tab.
Then it behaves much as it did before, the only real difference is that I’ve added small images for each item, which I think helps better recognise the different stories.

Something like an option to toggle the images on and off would help. Like a “compact” exactly how it looked before and “expanded view” how it looks now would be preferrable I think then everyone wins
