Let me know if there’s already a place for this, I couldn’t find a Dalek Universe thread though. I was super late to the game with these audios and just finished the series last year. I’ve had literally no one to talk to about them though, and I thought they were amazing. Any thoughts from people who’ve listened/are listening to it?
Just cuz no one’s replied lol…I listened to the first one n thought there’s alotta technobabble. I lose interest in stories with alot of it. I too want to know if it gets better later on?
Never listened to them, but have always mean to. Oh well, one of these days.
People really rave about these so they are on my radar and I will listen eventually. I think there are just more things I’d rather listen to first than Ten and Daleks
I keep being tempted by them. I’ve heard the Dalek element is minimal, certainly in the first set, which intrigues me as I’m not really a Dalek fan. I also quite like the idea of the Tenth Doctor being in the world of 60s Dalekmania.
I think getting through the first one was a bit of a challenge. I thought the subsequent ones were better, especially once you hit volume two. I think the tone shifts a bit into something more serious after the first arc wraps up too.
I listened to these a while back. They’re very good, but I feel the term Dalek is a bit of misnomer. Looking at the wiki (the fandom one), the Daleks are only in it minimally. They only appear in four of the nine stories and don’t show up until boxset 2. It’s much more a exploration of the worlds Terry Nation invented with major ties to Daleks Master Plan and, of all things, Destiny of the Daleks. So, really enjoyable, not as much Dalek as you’d think. On a side note, this does spoil the major plot reveal of Series 8 of the Fourth Doctor Adventures, so be aware of that if you don’t want that revealed.
Yeah, the Daleks really aren’t in it much. I think the novelty of it really is the doctor being flung back to a time even he shouldn’t really travel to.
I’ve listened to those so all good - a great series too.
I’m no fan of the Tenth Doctor but I think this series is very strong. With the setting of it time-wise I think a later Tenth Doctor was the best Doctor for it.
It might even be my favourite Tenth Doctor series.
I’ve got the first one on Vinyl along with Volume 2-5 of the 9th Doctor Adventures. I really enjoyed the first boxset of DU.
I have dalekphobia on audio, but I really enjoyed this. Have the complete set on vinyl.
