With aliases, hopefully, so that searching for Perpugilliam Brown or Peri Brown will both come up…
I am stupidly excited for this change, with all the new features it will bring.
It’s a big update though so I need to make sure I don’t break anything when I do it haha, will take it slow
Just keep in mind that people will want to do edits on the character pages!
(And merges. Wouldn’t be terribly surprised if we had some duplicate character tags…)
Yep luckily the moderation features I’ve already built will be able to work on these new character pages too
That’s the good thing when things are written pretty portably!
Sounds like a great idea. There’s a lot you could do with a character page
The lack of Oxford comma gave me a bit of a pause here
What is an Oxford comma?
Star Trek characters, Batman >,< and Gandalf.
Comma before an and in a list, for example
I went to a party with the strippers, Gandalf, and Batman.
Has an oxford comma, 3 seperate ‘groups’ of people you went to the party with, firstly strippers, secondly Gandalf, thirdly Batman
I went to a party with the strippers, Gandalf and Batman.
Doesn’t have an oxford comma, you went to a party with Batman and Gandalf who are strippers
Thanks. We don’t use a comma in that way in Swedish. But now I know
It’s not a universal English Language thing. It’s more common in American English than British English.
This was one of my favorite topics here in a while
I’m English and I use it, for the most part. Makes it cleaner.
But the Americans can take my extra 'U’s from my cold, dead, tea infused hands.
Is this the Color vs. Colour thing?
No, Oxford Comma is very important otherwise sentences can be very confusing.
My favourite people are my parents, Catherine Tate and David Tennant.
You mean, is it a ‘incorrect vs correct spelling’ thing?
Fortunately, I’m in the habit of using the correct spelling when I write in English, to keep you lovely British people happy
I will always use U in words where American spelling removes them, but the Oxford comma is genuinely useful.
