Comparative Story Rankings TARDIS Guide/Tumblr/DWM

Hello all! I’ve not introduced myself yet, but I’ve lurked for a few weeks. Yesterday I made a post on my Tumblr comparing how different sections of the fandom rate each Doctor’s (well, One to Thirteen) best and worst stories. It follows from an earlier post I had made comparing the results from DWM’s 2023 reader survey and Tumblr user adventure-showdown’s poll that they ran throughout that year. Given the wealth of ratings and reviews on TARDIS Guide, I thought it would be interesting to see how the three overlapped and how they didn’t!

Check it out on Tumblr here, and the earlier post that dives into more nitty-gritty methodology stuff here.

Welcome to our little corner! Lovely Idea, going to give it a look in just a second!

Well, everybody has their wrong Opinions at times, don’t they? (Meaning yes everybody who thinks it is 7’s worst story is of course WRONG.)

Recently I feel like I’m seeing more people saying that Trial is their favorite story of Six’s, which I find interesting.

I ran adventure-showdown last year, plus lurking on here, and participating in the dwm polls, so a very fun read for me. I know I shared my thoughts this morning over on tumblr, but might as well again. Because adventure showdown was a head to head tournament and people were able to push their favourites that definitely skews some of the results slightly, I pushed for the daemons quite hard as its my personal favourite Pertwee and at least top 10 if not top 5 for the show as a whole for me, from what I remember The Happiness Patrol also saw a pretty big push, and Human Nature/The Family of Blood had quite a few people going quite hard against it. I did my best to seed each round so that the favourites wouldn’t go against eachother till towards the end, but it was inevitably imperfect, so some episodes will have been eliminated earlier than they should have. It is interesting that the seeding polls I ran don’t always necassarily match match the final result, either because they had less reach or because there was no opportunity to really sway how people voted.
