It was okay. The characters worked well, and I liked Bill’s relationship with the blonde girl. My thoughts in the beginning were that this was not the angle that I thought it would be, but that changed later. I liked the way they reused Margreth Slitheren. However, overall, I thought it was kind of mediocre.
The Twelfth Doctor had the strongest year three but still did not reach some of the highs of the previous years.
A Confusion of Angels is a story bursting with great ideas, but it struggles to balance them all. The Weeping Angel-Host hybrid concept is a stroke of genius, the Doctor’s long-game strategy is satisfying, and Margaret Slitheen’s reinvention as a detective is a pleasant surprise. However, the sheer number of twists, characters, and competing storylines results in a somewhat chaotic experience, with a finale that doesn’t quite stick the landing. A fun, visually striking adventure with plenty to love—but also a reminder that sometimes, less is more.
Here’s my spoilery review for those of you who fancy a read. Thanks!
It’s a fun idea, coming to a Max Capricorn ship with the the Hosts predictably going haywire, and the inclusion of the Weeping Angels as part of them. It’s also interesting to see Margaret Slitheen again, reinventing here life now as a detective. The conclusion is a bit overblown with far too many moving parts that don’t all get adequately resolved.
