Very much looking forward to being able to put up a review of this book, such a deep and clearly personal story, it makes me hope Jo Martin is able to be directly involved on a production (and perhaps writing too :eyes:) level for future Fugitive Doctor stories.

Does anything from War Between come up? Im sure its not crucial but I own it and want to know how much to prioritize it

Not that I remember, not sure it’s really touched on at all

 A shame that I can’t mark the date I actually completed this

Ok just started reading and already a question arises

how does the fugitive remember meeting 13 shouldn’t the overlapping timelines make her forget same as other multi doctor meetings

looks like there really is no audiobook… that’s a shame!

Oh this is very interesting that Fugitive thinks she’s her first incarnation because of memory wipes. I don’t think we knew that? Kind of leaves room for her to be quite frankly anywhere timeline wise even future.

I’ve been reading this a lot after finishing my work, and I can’t put it down! I think that I’m super invested in Fugitive as an incarnation because there’s so much potential and so many mysteries to explore. This story really delves into that, and honestly I think the story of The Kaleidoscope adds such depth to her, and honestly if the full Circuit Breaker arc had focused around this as its main story maybe would’ve been much more effective. The throughline between releases thus far has remained very weak, and I do think the trouble with the multimedia events to an extent is that the meatier elements outshine the shorter form stories.

Also its funny how despite the fact I struggle to read books these days, when I really want to I can fly through it like I did as a kid. I read nonstop on my lunch, and after work. The story has me hooked, and I’m over halfway through already! Gonna have a break to play Fortnite, but I will be reading more tonight for sure. One of the chapters was really emotional and quite honestly devastating.

stayed up way past my bedtime to try finish but alas it wasn’t possible. the story and lore additions to fugitive are so interesting and i love how they tie in to jo martin’s life too. i’ve got around 5 chapters left, very curious how things will wrap up!

Finished! I’d say that was by far the best Circuit Breaker story yet. I’ll say more on it after I finish work!

One thing to note, it’s weird Martha is still present here but isn’t in the audio so ig she just ■■■■■ off when there’s a crisis? :sob:

About six chapters into this and loving it so far. It’s great to see Jo Martin able to develop her own character how she wants, and I think the first person perspective is a brilliant way to make us understand her the way Martin does. I don’t usually like the novels that try to really get into the mindframe of the Doctor but it works so well here

Finished this today, and I think the biggest takeaway I have from this book is all the Jamaican food I now wanna try. I have huge respect for Jo Martin for writing this herself and doing it all her way. It’s culturally and historically fascinating, the sci-fi elements are technical and accurate and within the context of Doctor Who it’s all so well researched and I loved all the little references. This has easily been the best Circuit Breaker entry by far, 9/10

I know people have mixed opinions about Circuit Breaker as a whole, but I’m so incredibly happy we have it if only so we could have Kaleidoscope. How lucky we are that Jo Martin agreed to write it and gave us such a great insight into the Fugitive Doctor’s character!

Obviously, a lot of it comes from a very personal place, which she talks about in the Author’s Note, and it adds such great depth to the story! I love the relationship the Doctor and Martha have throughout as well.

I have so many thoughts about it, which I’ll need to put into put into an actual review/follow-up comments, but wow! 10/10 from me!

8 chapters in and I love this. If it holds up I can see it being my favourite Fugitive story as it’s giving such a wonderful dive into this incarnation.
