This has been the best comic and the ending gives me hope that the event is about to start ramping up (but the mobile game is next so who knows)

I enjoyed this a lot, the art was beautiful, and I liked the characterisation of Fugitive here. Flis felt very much like she could’ve been a companion, I liked her dynamic with Fugitive and the impact she had on her.

My copy finally arrived in the mail today, and apparently I’m in the minority here.
So… this is basically just the first Dalek comic but again, right? I was going to give it some bonus points for actually trying to to the premise of Circuit Breaker and have The Doctor put the object somewhere specific, but by the end the countless dalek designs were just so farcical and ridiculous I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
We’re also getting into the (expected) arc of Fugitive becoming The Doctor as we know them, and maybe this is a me thing and conceptually just fundamentally disagreeing with everybody about who/what Fugitive is, but I’m just not a fan of that idea. It’s the obvious route, and therefore rather predictable and a bit dull. Even ignoring my personal feelings on this incarnation.

I’m honestly really just hanging on for Big Finish now. Not expecting anything earthshattering with this foundation, but The Deadliest Weapon showed we could get better stories. And maybe the written material will end up being “cool beans” as well.

Finally able to get a copy in the UK (Titan seem to be having distribution issues) and so I was able to read it.

My copy arrived today and it easily my favourite entry in the series yet. I loved the Doctor’s characterisation, but again I just wish it could’ve been longer, 9/10

It finally arrived! Unfortunately, it’s currently too hot for me to throw enough coherent sentences together into a review, but I did enjoy it.
My main thought coming out of it is how well the theme of loneliness and belonging works here. The remaining Kaleds have come together to create such a complex underground society and, even when the Doctor offers them multiple ways out, they love their home planet so much that they’d rather die than leave. The Doctor looked so hopeful at the prospect of having people travelling with her for a bit, and it works well to encourage her to put some extra effort in with UNIT.
There’s also probably something interesting to be said about how the first comic shows a group of aliens fleeing their home to be safe and the second shows a group sitting down and refusing to leave, neither of whom can truly escape the Daleks.
It does lose points for the misleading cover though. Osgood is not brought along for the ride, but more importantly, the Doctor does not get to wear her hat for most of it.

That was fine. Better than the previous comics but still nothing spectacular. Both this event and TLV, in my opinion, are stymied by being over-reliant on Dalek stories because, frankly, I think every possible Dalek story has been told.
People are hiding from the Daleks. Daleks invade their safe space and kill lots of people. Daleks have a factory and are planning on invading the universe.
We’ve seen all this before. And this could have been set anywhere. The Skaro setting was window dressing and there was a real disconnect between what we see of the Kaleds in Genesis and the Kaleds we see here.
I did like the Fugitive more here but I wonder if that’s because they are obviously moulding her into the Doctor we know (right down to a ‘ooh a sonic device that’s a good idea’ bit). And thank god they’ve got rid of the ridiculous ‘I don’t know what a Dalek is’ stuff (I know she’s met them already in the event but it felt like a conceit they were trying to keep going).
And as others have said upthread, why the heck is Osgood on the cover when she doesn’t feature in the story aside from the final page. That dynamic shot is hugely misleading.
Better but still not convincing me these multimedia events are worth the money.

This was… fine. I haven’t read many comics so don’t have a great deal of experience to compare it to but I felt the story was very slight, and the whole “put these items back where they came from” was barely even mentioned.
What has a time ring got to do with this?
Also the hand mine solution came out of nowhere, how did she know that would work? And why did it? I guess as a scientist she has studied them but it seemed quite unsatisfying.
Also, Osgood is one of my favourite characters but she could be anyone in this, she is barely used.
I was so looking forward to this event but have found it disappointing so far. I hope Big Finish can save it for me!

I was extremely confused by that because a time ring is Gallifreyan technology and I don’t see why it would be left with some Kaled survivors just so they could escape from a place they said they didn’t want to escape from.
I had to re-read that bit because it wasn’t really clear in the panels what was going on. Flis threw the hand and it is attached to the Emperor thing (?) and then the other hand mines suddenly appeared. Why would hand mines attack the Daleks? It’s Dalek technology isn’t it?
100% - and why is she on the front cover looking all dynamic? She’s done nothing this event so far except sit in the lab and bemoan the fact the Doctor isn’t Doctorish enough.

I enjoyed quite a lot of this… except for the bits that are related to the ongoing arc, which is disappointing.
