I read this a couple of months ago and gave it a 4/5 but now I can’t remember anything about it. I really need to start to write down my thoughts when reading ahead…
I’ve read about a third of the book and enjoying it so far! A steam-powered planet, a mythical pirate and his missing treasure, fun supporting characters - there’s a lot to like!
That sounds awsome. I might need to reread this!
I think I’ve listened to the audiobook of this but @MrColdStream’s description doesn’t ring any bells so maybe I didn’t!
I borrowed the translated version of this book from the school library last semester and enjoyed it. Also have no recollection about it here. 
Pretty pretty sure I was reading this one to my partner in the shower while she dealt with a really bad CVS episode - all I remember about it is that I got my Jackie Tyler voice down to a science. Are we still in the “This was written before we ever got any Tennant on screen” zone?
Is she even in this book? It’s not set on Earth at least! I’m two thirds through and she hasn’t appeared.
It’s the third and final book written before Tennant appeared on screen 
I’m realizing I’m mistaking this one for Winner Takes All 
I started the first two pages or so of this I think and never finished it.
Started a second listen to the audiobook. It is only 2h25m and read by David Tenant. It is great. I remember it now and it is a great story that captures Ten and Rose in a great way. I stand by my 4/5 score.
8/10. This is a very fun and solid piece of Doctor Who. Nothing is particularly amazing, but the characters and world building are great and it moves at a nice, quick pace. I finished this in under 3 days when it normally takes me forever to read anything, I was having a great time with this one.
I had a lot of fun with this book, I’d definitely recommend it.

The NSAs and I have been in a weird state, having mainly read the ones from 9, I think you can tell the growing pains not only to have a new Range of Books, but also simply trying to get the feel right for a much different Version of Who. So I decided rather than finish my last 9 NSA, I take a look at another 10 NSA
And thankfully I got a great one. Admittedly this book is by no means spectacular or revolutionary, one could even argue it’s a bit more on the average Side by being a mostly simple very mid-series Adventure, that said it executes it in such a brilliant manner, that makes it a lot of fun and very readable. I will say it doesn’t nail some mannerism, in particular of 10, but that’s to be expected by being an earlier Book with him. Rose on the other hand is a lot of fun here and gets plenty of great Moments. Really, you could describe this one as a Collection of great Moments. Not only that, I do think the setting, as well as the Side Characters, in particular Sally, are very enjoyable. Admittedly, it does lean to Imageries that I usually love, so I might be a bit of bias here.
But on the whole, while it doesn’t invent the Wheel differently, it knows exactly what it wants to be and does it in such an entertaining way, that I really have to give it to this one. Easily up there as my favorite NSA so far!
This was probably my all time favorite book from the Tenth Doctor, but I also acknowledge I am probably biased as Treasure Planet was my favorite Disney movie growing up.
The story was pretty much Treasure Planet meets the Doctor, with a Pirate Captain amazing a treasure before just vanishing without a trace, a boy named Jim trying to find the treasure to set up himself and Uncle in a better life, and we even get a cyborg cook! However there are some interesting twists. The Black Spot, which was part of the book Treasure Island takes the form of Kevin, a very apologetic creature that must kill all those given the black spot. The highlight of the book for me was the Doctor trying to run around the TARDIS to keep out of Kevin’s grasp while Kevin is apologizing for trying to kill him and asking for advice on his crosswords. Then Sally, the cyborg who turning out an antagonist wasn’t a surprise as she was clearly modeled after John Silver, but it took a further step where she was never redeemed in any way and was much more monstrous due to her not being a cyborg at all but a machine that killed a young woman and used her organic parts to stay alive.
One of darker twists that I actually did not see coming was the main bad guy. Rather his motivations. Overall though it was a fun book that I enjoyed reading. It’s one of the few books I had to buy to have a physical copy so I could reread it at home. Also Rose and the Doctor’s relationship in the book was done pretty well too.
