This is one people don’t talk about enough.

Some really great, traditional sci-fi in a way the show rarely does, with down-to-earth characters, some fantastic and vividly alien concepts and a really nice central mystery.

The combination of Andy Lane and Jim Mortimer leads to some really fun atmosphere and ideas paired with some astounding prose.

It goes on a little too long but is definitely a highlight of the early VNAs

Surprisingly, I found myself enjoying this quite a lot. It has a rich setting, great characters and a very intriguing alien threat and it deals with the Seven/Ace situation well. It’s also not as edgy as some of the earlier books.

:memo:8/10

An ambitious mix of sci-fi, murder mystery, and disaster thriller, Lucifer Rising delivers a gripping and atmospheric story packed with complex characters, rich worldbuilding, and thought-provoking themes. While its middle section drags at times, and the sheer number of moving parts in the climax can feel overwhelming, the novel’s strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. A must-read for fans of the darker, more mature Seventh Doctor era.

Just finished reading this today, definitely one of the more memorable and interesting VNAs, out of the ones I’ve read so far.
I really enjoyed seeing Ace again, and all the supporting characters were great. I think it was a little long, and I enjoyed it more towards the end, but it has some cool ideas that I think were executed well!

I really loved this one! Very memorable and enjoyable, certainly better than I was expecting

I like this one a lot. I think it gets a bit messy towards the end, but the worldbuilding is excellent and the characterisation of the regulars is really good. One of my favourite VNAs so far.
