I am about halfway into this. I think it is okay, but it is clear that it was written before Donna’s episode aired. She feels much more as she does in the Christmas special than in season 4.
Done with this book and I must say that I found it kind of boring. Donna was not written as she is in season 4. Gandhi could have been interesting, but I don’t feel like he works in this, and in general, I must say that the side characters are kind of boring. The threat is also not that interesting. I will not remember this book in a couple of days…
Finished this today! I found it enjoyable, if nothing particularly outstanding. I agree that Donna didn’t feel quite Donna (it definitely leaned mostly into the shouty side of her character). This being the Tenth Doctor, I would also have liked to see a lot more angst and just overall exploration of the tension around the pacifism theme with Gandhi, which could have been much more interesting but as it was was just… kind of there.
Still, a solid Doctor Who story, set in a historical context we don’t see explored quite so often, and I’m glad I read it!
This one was interesting. All the Doctor wanted to do was get curry from an old friend either Donna and of course overshoot by years to put them in danger. I liked the storyline and the events in it, although i was a little thrown by Gandi’s inclusion. However I did think his conversations with the Doctor and Donna were interesting.
