Bigeneration Nation

I’d be interested to know what you all think of the concept of bigeneration.

Personally, I despise it.

  • Bigeneration is a good idea
  • Don’t care/don’t have an opinion
  • Bigeneration is a bad idea

Echoing what I said earlier, I think it’s daft and I don’t understand the point of it.

Honestly, I’m sort of numb to it. I don’t care for it, but then I’ve never cared for how 2005+ Who has made regeneration into a cheap gimmick with overuse anyway.

I don’t think it’s something that should happen more than once. Otherwise a harmless concept.

If I had to pick, I’d say I dislike it more than I like it. But I don’t really have a strong opinion.

In theory, I like it (and technically I believe in it as far as Six and Seven are concerned lol), but in canonical practice I don’t. It opens the door to favoritism and in general is unfair for the other Doctors who didn’t have a chance to bigenerate.

Could’ve called this thread “Talking bout Bigeneration”

I’m not sure where i stand on it tbh, it seems to me like it’s RTD trying to be clever again

Funny you say that. My first thought seeing the title was the Janet Jackson song, “Rhythm Nation”.

Absolutely detest it tbh :sob: I explained my reasoning in a thread earlier here.

It was cool in The Giggle and I enjoyed the scene a lot. Then they just have to bring it up again and again…

I don’t think I can add much more that hasn’t been said already, but I think that Bi-generation was another bad idea to add to the list of incoherent changes made by RTD since he returned. It no only opens the door to, like many of have already said, to show even more favoritsm towards Tennant’s Doctor but it also creates an argument about who is THE real Doctor in this scenario.

Where does 15 come from? What happens if 14 regenerates again? Can he even regenerate?

It’s a long list of questions to a nonsensical problem created for no good reason, why couldn’t you show 14 defeating the Toymaker, going to therapy and then regenerating into 15? Why couldn’t you regenerate 14 into 15, have him beating the Toymaker and then going to therapy? What sense does it make to split them up, have one stay on Earth to do therapy while the other goes around saying he is fine but still not showing any signs of that therapy he allegedly went through as 14?

None of it makes any sense.

Not a fan but I also don’t hate it. Just mildly dislike

I think that it works as a one time thing. It was nice to see 14 and 15 together. But they should not use it again in a while. If they do it again they have to have an explanation of why this myth has started happening.

Don’t love it. I’ll only be actively annoyed by it if happens again—when 15 regenerates, for instance. That would be a really bad move IMO.

Have they thought? I feel like they have not explored it at all after the giggle. It might have been mentioned, but not that much.

I think the Concept is bad (woah what a shocker, nobody has ever said that?) and it could have been decent enough in my Eyes, IF we didn’t let one Doctor (14) basically live a Life on his own. I know this might be a bit of a controversial Opinion, but I already didn’t think giving DT another Incarnation to play with was stretching Things (this is now his 3RD Incarnation on his own + a Clone), nothing against the Man, I do enjoy lots of his Stories and even with the 60th, I thought WBY was brilliant. That said, I think it kinda defeats the whole Appeal of bringing him back to give him Closure and WHILE yes he got Closure, I wish we could have him accept his Regeneration this Time and let Ncuti take over. Having a new Doctor taking over a Thread would have been a KILLING first Impression, and I already think Ncuti did amazing. And even if you wanted both Doctors against the Toymaker, could you at least have them merge in the End? Like the ending with 14 with the Nobles is sweet and all, but I don’t really like the Idea of a Doctor ‘retiring’ to Earth in a permeant state (and I know he does still travel, but he is basically in a status of retirement for a Moment). But then again that’s a bit of a me-thing, I get it and I cannot stretch enough how happy I am for everybody who enjoyed it.

I appreciate Russel trying something new, I really do, I just think Bigeneration in the long run is a messy Idea. Really hope it was a one-time Thing only (and please stop bringing up! :sob:)

Okay, a bit of a messy ramble that went on a tangent, but I thought it was important to mention this bit to explain why I am not really sold on the Idea. Obviously there are other Things as well that make me not like it as much, but ehh wanted to add a different Point to the mix. And again I cannot stretch enough, if one of those Things are why you enjoyed Bigeneration much more in the End then all the Power to you!! (just adding this Point to make sure I don’t come across as too grumpy here :sob:)

When do they keep bringing it up? I have watched the last season three times and I really feel like this is not the case. They might have mentioned it once or twice but not in a repetitive way.

Honestly it was a waste of time.
They didn’t wanna say goodbye to Tennant again, when everyone knew he was only back for 3 episodes..

I think bigeneration was a terrible idea. It was completely stupid to leave 14 just out there somewhere. Now there is another doctor and for absolutely no reason at all! Just like the metacrisis, it gives us an extra Tennant, which is absurd as he already got to play both 10 and 14. No Doctor should be given such preferential treatment especially not my least favourite doctor
