I did that I wanted to start at storm warning and my friend was like that’s the 16th release and I was like oh so I have 15 stories left before I get to it ![]()
But but but first time round I got the primeval and left it then second time round finished it mmm hmm
Live 34 was one of the earliest main ranges I heard, and it’s still one of the coolest in its execution, that also kind of hooked me for good!
First BF I ever heard was Night of the Vashta Nerada from CDNM, which I mainly bought cause I really wanted to see more from the Vashta Nerada haha. Still a favourite to this day.
My first BF were Patient Zero (the culmination of a companion arc across two Doctors which ended in a cliffhanger) which had Daleks on the cover, and Legend of the Cybermen (the finale of a trilogy).
Same. I was aware of Big Finish and it was something I was going to “get around to” at some point. New Eighth Doctor stories with Paul McGann was absolutely going to be that “some point”.
My first was War Master: Only the Good. I tend to go for audios that are about characters I know so it was easy diving into it.
I also think that fans of Big Finish underestimate what casual listeners actually manage to enjoy, even if they don’t fully understand everything. It’s exactly the same with the TV show - fans worry about what Joe Public will think of something or find it impenetrable when, in reality, plenty of people enjoy it for what it is without worrying too much about the bits that we, as fans, think will be stumbling blocks for them.
Hey friends, we have a whole thread for our first BF adventure ![]()
We still don’t have the word for June lmao, we’ll never know what story had Open in the title
The delayed 2DA most likely
Probably, but i thought that was meant for July originally
June I’m pretty sure. It was definitely a delayed release though
Oh absolutely, hopefully it has the missing word in
Yes, it’s called a Darleck, from that British sci-fi kids’ show!
Two new writers, and this is the first War Master set of the new era - as in not produced by Scott Handcock!
“In The Blue Shift Ritual – which takes its title from a line in Paul Cornell’s Timewyrm: Revelation – we get a glimpse of a real Doctor Who rarity: the time travel experiments of Ancient Gallifrey. And if the Master was going to stage his own death, what better way is there than to destroy the entire universe itself?”
this sounds so cool
Oh now that sounds interesting!
Do you think I’d be able to listen to this without having done the previous War Master sets?
You could do really any of them without any prior knowledge, only a couple build upon any previous stuff. Especially given it’s a new producer new arc it’ll be a starting point for sure. Most recent stuff from BF tends to be entry level which I’m not a huge fan of
as an arc lover
