I don’t think you can make a blanket statement. Some of it genuinely is accesaible, and some of it really isn’t. Surely it’s in everyone’s best interest for Big Finish to be clear and accurate about which is which (unless their plan is for people to buy releses that they otherwise wouldn’t if they knew they needed more context, possibly also hoping they’ll go back and buy all the context)
Some release dates from the podcast:
Snare - August 6th
Bad Terms - August 12th (coincidentally Nev Fountain, the Writer’s, birthday and the day he has a book out)
Master! Part 2 - August 14th
Obviously the best jumping on point for Big Finish is Palindrome Part 2
Strange, i assume thats right then as the podcast has given incorrect relesse dates in the past.
I think you could make a real case for using Dark Gallifrey: Morbius as someone’s entrance to the franchise
I’m probably not the best person to ask for a starting point given that i did Zagreus first
True, that is actually a very good starting point
Tbh I think a lot of it is accessible people just may not agree with one another, I mean we’re who fans we never do! When I was new to BF I just started wherever with stuff rather than get concerned about it and got on fine for the most part - sure you miss references here and there. Case in point I’d say RTD2 wasn’t a great starting point but I’ve seen a few new fans say they found it fine!
My first BF was Dalek Empire, and I spent much of it going “am I supposed to know what’s happening or not” so I guess this is just the nature of getting into the audios lol.
Mine was Storm Warning, a good starting point.
Doom Coalition for me, and always the point I rec for 8th Doctor such a good intro.
I started on stranded, and was quite lost by all the characters lol
Storm Warning or Blood Of The Daleks are where I send everybody who’s curious to try the audios out, those are pretty perfect starting points! I do everything I can to steer them away from starting with Destination: Nerva or Ravagers lol (sorry Nick!).
I cannot even begin to imagine how one would start with this at any point, I mean it’s not the worst but painfully bland ![]()
Anyway glad to see everybody else had some good Starting Points, mine was The Two Masters, which was like the Conclusion of a Trilogy, so yeahhh truly the best Starting Point ever! /j
Lucie Miller was my way in <3
My first BF was the one everyone suggests as a starting point: Spare Parts. I don’t know if it was the right choice for me, though! t wasn’t until listening to Live 34 a few stories later that I was properly hooked.
First time I’ve actually bought a book club audio actually could we add to audio extra the book club audio from big finish that month i understand there might be some overlap with ranges but it could be a good way to incorporate big finished book club and the forums audio club
Charley hooked me, but my entry point to BF was actually The Twelfth Doctor Chronicles series 1 and Paternoster Gang series 1.
Paternoster was great. Twelfth’s was very underwhelming.
I first did Diary of River Song S5. After that it was a bunch of random ones and I was really enjoying them but true obsession? That came with gallifrey
