Thanks for saying this and wording it miles better than I ever could. This is exactly how I feel and how I have felt since I started with BF. I got into BF when I was really young and working as an apprentice and the amount of people in other spaces calling me privileged[1] and other things really affected, and continues to affect me. I can’t add anything else other than I 100% agree with everything you said like I’ve seen people who pirated Rani Takes on the World complaining about it being cancelled and guess what you’re part of the problem it got cancelled.
cause what says privilege like apprentice wages… /s ↩︎
I had this same issue when looking to buy 2 copies of Ace Jacket (the charity book), the shipping price for 2 copies wasn’t less, or even the same, but it was more than if I’d just checked out twice separately which was totally backwards, I don’t get it.
Not entirely sure on this, but if you only order a bundle, there are no additional administrative costs, these are presumably calculated into the shipping instead. That’s the best I can come up with at least. It’s a bit silly though. If you were already planning to purchase a separate release anyways, it’s actually cheaper to not pre-order in bundles… (at least for me, in the EU)
So I believe its because every shipment they make has an extra fee on it, and since pre ordering the 13DA’s means multiple shipments, that’s why its more expensive.
But if @SophieScarlet ordered them all individually it would be just as many items for BF to ship but they are charging less per disc, that is what her issue seems to be?
Hmm yeah I really don’t know for certain. Not a CD purchaser anymore and I was always in the UK so didn’t have any fees. Probs best to email BF in this case. They’re super responsive !
I’m honestly not concerned or annoyed or anything, just bemused.
I doubt the CDs past the first of each series will sell that fast, so it’s not like I can’t pick them up later. Actually wait… even if I pre-ordered them all individually in one order, so the CDs wouldn’t ship till the last one’s release date, the downloads of each would be available on release day… much to ponder…
The shipping for Ace Jacket, for anyone outside the UK, is ridiculous just for one book. It literally doubles the cost. I don’t know why the vendor has it set up like that.
RE the piracy stuff, i have only pirated 1 thing from Big Finish and it was a subscriber exclusive Short Trip. People pirate BF stuff and then brag about it on twitter, then are surprised when BF block them
Seeing all the hate directed at Big Finish really saddens me. They’re honestly just trying they’re best
Elon Musk goes into shop, brags about shoplifting, is surprised to be told it’s illegal, tries to get his AI to say it’s not, it won’t stop talking about shoplifting being illegal
It gets worse, as these people then say that the reason Big Finish blocked them was calling them out for transphobia and zionism.
Now, I cant speak for everyone but whenever I’ve made very negative retweets and comments about Trevor Baxendale’s involvement in Zygon Century, Ive not been blocked.
And the same people saying they were blocked for this, are usually also the one’s pushing piracy.
Going to NyssaTheNerd’s metaphor of a shop, its people saying they’ve been banned from a shop for disliking products were made by bad people, when it actuality it was stealing the products that got them banned.
I get your point. Personally I’d feel happier in myself if I was able to purchase games that are no longer available and the money go to the royalties of those who made them. Which is why remakes and remasters, or making the titles available digitally via a legal method, is always the best.
