DOCTOR WHO: AND THE CRUSHING INVEVITABILITY OF JON CULSHAW - COMING SOON
Ooo I’m very interested in the fact that Victoria is in it.
Edit: I do remember when Alfie Shaw teased he was involved with a new series with a Doctor other than 11 and a new companion it was a 12 episode block rather than 6 so that makes sense
New Vortex day!
Well that cover’s tempted me…
I didn’t pick up last years 2DA release but have done the first three boxsets, hoping that The Potential Daleks won’t be too essential to understand this one

Vortex also revealed Victoria is being recast and will be in the next 2DA set! I love the range and I’m curious by this somewhat parallel Earth but my god I wish they wouldn’t have all the returning characters.
For the 2DA range specifically, I think if you’re going to do a whole bold new direction, you should not have the older or recast companions except as School Reunion-type appearances, it should be 2 off with somebody new (why not just Raven, honestly?!) doing new things. But I’m happy for a recast Victoria or for Zoe and Jamie, I just think they should do Season 5 or Season 6 stories with those characters and let the BF 6B have its own cast of characters.
They probably use the older versions of the TV companions so the actors don’t have to recreate their over 50 years ago voices. Still, as the First Doctor stories with Stephen Noonan have done that too the novelty has worn off.
There’s Tarlos from Colony of Fear, whose backstory in that was as a companion to the Second Doctor whom the Sixth has no memory of and heavily implied to be from 6B for this reason (the short story Save Yourself from 2019’s Target Storybook showed the CIA using memory wiping on the Second Doctor).
The novel World Game[1], which was Terrance Dicks finally giving a way for 6B to happen, had a Time Lady as an original companion who doesn’t live to the end of the book. The same book ends on a lead into The Two Doctors.

I think the main reason Victoria is in this new set is cause they wanna soft launch the recast before the 2DAs next year which I think we can safely assume will be an s6b and an s5 set
About half way ish through Harry and Naomi with 7
I remember finding this era quite middle of the road but I am enjoying this team
I wonder when we’re going to hear what’s replacing the current run of 13DAs in the “new monthly range”, given it was announced the 10DAs would be subbing in for the 9DAs a few months back. The most likely option to me seems like more 13DAs, hence why they’re not getting announced so far in advance. Other stuff I could see replacing the 13DA run, in decreasing order of likelihood, would be:
- More 9DAs (they’re just swapping the order around)
- More Fugitive Doctor Adventures (hence the big gap since the previous releases)
- 15DAs (now that RTD2 is officially over and if Ncuti is interested)
I don’t see them swapping in one of the Moffat Doctor recasts (since they’re doing CD releases) or doing something with Eight (since his main sets for next year are already up for preorder), so I think it has to be one of the above four options. We’re a year out from the first currently unoccupied “slot”, so fingers crossed there’s an announcement soon.
I don’t see Fugitive being bi monthly but could be proven wrong! I think the gap is because of Circuit Breaker? Also the other Fugitive stories were delayed by RTD so were recorded years ago in advance so idk if they had to hold doing more while they waited for the initial ones to release?
I’m not sure on how long the dust has to be settled before Big Finish can officially announce or produce a story from a certain era on television, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they pull double-duty with Tennant and have the Tenth Doctor and the Fourteenth Doctor interspersed throughout at some point in the future.
These upcoming 10DAs total twelve releases as well as a new Out of Time (which I’m hoping is with the Seventh Doctor), but there’s every chance we get more from the 13DAs regardless given how vocal Whittaker has been about playing the character for the love of the game. I do hope for more of the Fugitive Doctor, and I am wondering if Circuit Breaker will be used as a bit of a stepping stone for some later announcement about a new set for her, but I’m not sure…
They’ve actually done something from the 14 era already! They did a story with Mel and the Vlinx!
Then I suppose that confirms it: Out of Time, starring David Tennant and David Tennant! ![]()
Out of time 4: Teen subscribers get more at big finish
A 3 part box set.
Episode 1: the Tenth Doctor is reunited with the Meta-Crisis Doctor, as they encounter Time Lord 2 from Doctor Who Unbound: Exile.
Episode 2: Daft Jamie has been time scooped! It’s up to the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors to set things straight.
Episode 3: the Curator, in a face reminiscent of his Tenth and Fourteenth selves, encounters both those faces as they must stop Ross Brimmicombe-Wood.
Other characters voiced by David Tennant.
Somebody get Nicholas Briggs on the phone! We’ve secured the future of Big Finish for the next decade! ![]()
Honestly im pretty happy with that! I’m glad BF have enough faith in Shaw to approve a full 12 episode run again, hopefully its not a whole year wait until the next one.
