They’re probably just letting our bad memories fade a bit while making sure that they do a proper job this time around…
Shauny, one man: redesigned his website and added loads of new features in less than 10 months.
BF, a company that has multiple people working on their website: nothing in 10 months.
Same with the new app too
I think there was an update from the podcast in October that the new website was being redeveloped but it would take a while.
Honestly I quite liked it. I think if theyd got the app and everyone’s accounts properly sorted it would have actually been successful.
For a while after they went back to the orginal app, you could still download on the ‘new’ app as long as what you were downloading was released prior to August 2024.
Just checked and downloads no longer work on the app so assumably they’ve switched the servers off now.
They gave us The Four Doctors for free as a way to say sorry lol

I do genuinely prefer the ‘new’ app still to the current one.
It had a lot of needless but nice features like the fact it intended to show you the stories’ you’d boughts intended release date.
For subscriber short trips, if they’d been released as short trip ratities they’d use the official cover rather than a generic image
Plus the darker UI was so much prettier on the eyes.
I just hope we get the rest of the Subscriber Short Trips, that’d be nice

Also re: how long its taking, I suspect they’ll want to make sure its 100% watertight after the company they used messed them about so much before.
Oh absolutely. Iirc last time the lack of accessibility features for users who are visually impaired would have made them in breach of the Equality Act.
Plus given that last time people’s accounts where missing purchases from May - June, hopefully theyre going to avoid that next time.
I think given how bad it went they’ll be much more hands on this time rather than letting someone else make it for them. Whoever they got were awful.

Seemed like there were trying to swap to a new backend and front end all at once.
I got into BF last summer, but I didn’t listen to it as much as I do now…I guess I just so happened to be taking a break during those two weeks. The current website and app seems mostly fine to me, but I also know very little about web and app design.
The current website works fine but it’s a little dated. I also have no idea how it is to use if one is disabled and relies or narration or keyboard navigation.
I think in the past theyve said there’s rights issues - which I guess makes sense since the stories are going on sale commercially rather than just being bonus content as they were originally made.
