Ninth Doctor Adventures that I actually want to listen to?

This news makes me so happy, I’ve been wanting something like this, but never expected it to actually happen!

Big Finish really know how to get me interested in their stuff!

Plus, seeing as I’ve just watched the Ninth Doctor’s era with my brother, I’m going to try and use these to introduce him to Big Finish!

All these monthly releases remind me of something…

I’m all for this!

2025 is going to be the year I get into Big Finish!

Woohoo! That’s a great decision! It’s a world of wonder and excitement!

I’m currently limiting myself to New Series-related stuff, simply because I’m saving the Classic audios until I’ve watched Classic.

Thankfully it looks like Big Finish have some great New Series audios planned for 2025!

That’s understandable. I’d argue that you get more out of the classsic audios once you’re more familiar with the Doctors, companions and general atmosphere of their eras.

Fortunately for you, there are loads of great New Series audios as well!

I think it’s a good idea to wait with most of the classic doctors, but if you feel like it you could start with some eight as well, given that he’s mostly an audio doctor

I have been looking at Eight’s stuff (I’ve seen the Movie and I need more Eight in my life), but there are a few starting points.

Granted, I haven’t actually listened to much of his stuff, but I found his early main range appearances a great start, and will be continuing with those at some point soon

I’d say either Storm Warning, his first Main Range story which is meant to take place some time after the Movie, or from the 8DAs with Blood of the Daleks, which started his box set era. The later Eight releases are best enjoyed once you are a bit more familiar with him, because they come later in his life. The MRs are closer to Classic in style, while the 8DAs are closer to New Who.

Dark Eyes is also a good jumping on point for Eight on audio :slightly_smiling_face:

What I started to do with Classic Who is I actually have a timeline of the show from the POV of the Doctor and I actually just watch Classic Who with extended universe stuff. Mostly sticking to audios though. I’ve been only adding Big Finish stuff to the timeline but recently I opened up to BBC audios and original audios because some of them can be really good.

I’d recommend starting with Doom Coalition personally, despite what people say I didn’t enjoy Charley’s run but that’s not to say you won’t!

iirc the 8DAs were even specifically made to be an easier entry point for new fans coming from NuWho, which is why it has the 45 minute format and doesn’t directly reference much before it. Plus series arcs.

Highly agreed with Mr Coldstream’s recommendations either way for 8 entry points! Blood of the Daleks was mine for BF as a whole

UPDATE:

We have a title, and story synopsis for the OCTOBER '25 Third Doctor Adventures box.

The Doctor makes an unexpected return trip to the planet Konzomia, this time with Sarah Jane Smith. The traumas of his previous visit, with Jo Grant, are apparently long forgotten.

Except that they are not…

Can a long-defeated danger be rearing up again? And will the plight of a young British soldier, retreating to Dunkirk in 1940, be the catalyst for the unravelling of history?

The Doctor, Sarah and the Brigadier must embark upon a mission of mercy, with Jo Grant at its very heart.

So, not being a fan of older companions being reunited with their Doctors, I haven’t listened to any Jo Jones audios beyond The Sacrifice of Jo Grant in Legacy of Time. Is this an actual sequel to one of them which I’d need to listen to first or is it an unseen/unheard adventure? A quick look doesn’t offer up any ‘Konzomia’…
