Susan has had several run-ins with dear old 8. It goes like this: An Earthly Child > Relative Dimensions > Lucie Miller > To the Death > All Hands on Deck (Short Trips) > The Shoreditch Intervention (Susan’s War)
Wouldn’t recommend listening to the last two before the EDA releases, they’re quite spoiler-heavy! The events of Lucie Miller/To the Death are also central to the ongoing plotline of 8’s Time War range, even though Susan herself doesn’t appear in those boxsets.
O. I had actually almost bought those last two stories in the time war sale a little bit ago. Good to know this honestly. All this has made me want to continue the 8th Doctor Adventures too…
I’ve dithered and dithered but I don’t think I’m going to plump for The Sirens of Time Redux. I had thought about it, an updating and re-edit of a story which could have been loads better sounded great but ultimately it’s a story I’ve heard before and with so much other stuff coming out I think I’d rather put the £13 towards another upcoming release, or dip into a sale for stuff I didn’t get at the time.
I do keep an eye on the release schedule and make a fun little list of the stuff I’m going to go for or like the sound of and Sirens Redux was on it since it was announced but, with regret, I’ve just bumped it off.
For once, we actually have an exact release date for this one: Doctor Who – Short Trips: War Stories, read by Alan Cox, will be released as a free download exclusively from the Big Finish website on 29 December 2024, which would have been Paul Spragg’s birthday.
I really wanted to join to the competition but I really had no idea about the Time War. Well not like it doesn’t matter because seems like this story also might be written as a New Who thing and the knowledge of the Time War might not even better but the characters development seem even more important here. I think that’s quite out of the box thinking because probably most of us would write about the Time War itself, maybe Dalek Empire. I personally wanted to write about a small piece in the Time War where Daleks just terrorize planets with no help coming to rescue. But using the topic to MOVE the relationship between Bill and the Doctor is I think brilliant especially after Thin Ice. Thank you for reading my TED Talk lul-
