Big Finish: Missy

Just listened to “The Broken Clock”.
That was so great
I really liked the rather unique storytelling used here. I am not sure the story actually ties satisfactory together in the conclusion, but I am not sure I really care because I had fun

4/5 :star: for this one.

It’s one of my favourites. Such an interesting story style.

Glad you’re enjoying it. Some are rather generic_story.bf, but others are really weird, in a good way. I wish more stories would embrace the weirdness that is presented in Missy.

I love it when stories go a bit “experimental” with their storytelling methods. I’d much rather listen to a big swing for the fences that completely misses it’s mark than something that feels a bit too formulaic :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah the second episode was much better! I loved the pairing of Missy and the Monk. 4/5

Yeah, that was a fun one. I am also a fan of when you play with the format, and for the most part, I would say that they succeeded.

Just finished Missy season 1 with “The Belly of the Beast”.

Why does this have a rating of 3,49/5 :star: ? I gave it a 2/5 :star: and that felt generous… There’s no story? It’s all setup with no payoff, I really hope it’s because something comes of it in the next season otherwise I really feel like I wasted my time. All premise - no plot.

And Michelle Gomez making “funny accents” was really annoying to listen to…

I think it so far is very hit-or-miss with Missy’s stories on audio. She definitely doesn’t hit the high notes from her TV appearances for me.

I am genuinely looking forward to the next story “The Lumiat” after having listened to “Time Lord Immemorial” from Once and Future :slightly_smiling_face:

Pretty much how I feel about her audio stories, bar a few here and there. Its a shame as she’s one of my favourite incarnations of the Master.

Just listened to “The Lumiat”.

I was expecting more from what I had heard about this audio, from listening to “Time Lord Immemorial”, and from it’s rating of 4,17/5 :star: . But honestly I think this is more of a 3/5 :star: story.

It didn’t really handle the whole Missy becoming good in her next incarnation very well. It was almost a bit dull :person_shrugging:

I think I’ll wait to listen to more Missy until maybe tomorrow…

I listened to the next two Missy stories today.
I have both “Brimstone and Terror” and “Treason and Plot” at 3,5/5 :star:

I really enjoyed the return of the kids from the first Missy story and Strax was really well used. The plot might not have been the strongest, but the witty dialogue carried it along.

Treason and Plot was a bit better plot wise, but lacked a bit on the dialogue front. And I really hope they stop having Michelle Gomez doing “funny voices”, it’s really irritating to listen to.

Are you falling behind @Tian ?

Finished “Missy” season 2 with “Too many Masters”. 4,5/5 :star:

For me this was very clearly the best of the four stories. Missy and the Monk together are a riot. And all the Frontier in Space callback made me so happy, I love that story

I love the Ogrons, and they were done so well here

I think these types of stories are what this range ought to focus on. And I have a good feeling about the next season in that regard :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Love that we are in April, there’s so much to do in the garden and it is the perfect sort of mindless activity for listening to lots and lots of Big Finish

I was going to come here and say basically the same. Episode 4 was kind of boring and had no substance.

I will start box 2 but I think that I will take a break first. This has not been my favourite series.
