I can understand like obviously wanting it. Heck, I’m a huge collector of memorabilia but as I say I cut back on BF for space, and the cheaper price point years ago. I have more room now, but I ain’t repurchasing over 5 years of audios I’ve heard
A limited run would be nice, maybe they will due to the negative feedback but who knows. It certainly won’t help the case if they don’t buy it like some of them have been indicating.
See I doubt they’ll change course, assuming at tops a CD is an extra £5 to make when covering printing, packaging, storage, (and with pre-orders shipping), they’re basically getting over an extra 10% by removing the option and going digital only. And no company would complain at extra profit. I’m sure a few people won’t buy it, but I’ve already folded and I expect once more details are revealed more people will too.
Massively underused too, wish it was a 4 parter and that’s coming from me
Totally, I think at the end of the day they will have data to show their customers are moving more to digital only. Plus, yeah they’re a small business which people tend to forget so if it isn’t going to work for a release or they’re unsure then it makes sense not to take a risk.
I remember making this suggestion a few years ago when BF made a TLV story download and (at the time an exclusive vinyl to either HMV or ASDA). However, its not something that really appeals to most of us CD collectors.
The majority of us don’t listen to the CD - granted I know a few people on other forums who exclusively do for reasons I don’t fully understand and this could definitely help them. For the bulk of us, it’s just something that helps justify spending what is a relatively large amount of money on 3ish hours of audio (obviously as a company with a small audience the prices are justified on their end). Even though its a few extra pounds, having something you physically own does mentally make it feel like better value (for me at least).
Plus, I know a few Big Finish fans who buy physical due to ensure they retain access to them legally - after all should Big Finish lose rights (or heaven forbid close and the servers go offline) we’d no longer be able to download what we’ve bought.
People like me are going to have to move to downloads eventually - but its a difficult adaptation to us as it does feel like the value is going down (as silly as it sounds) and burning a CD just doesn’t that fix it unfortunately.
This is so true. Additionally – I have enough money now to buy lots of BF, but can only justify spending so much because I know that one day, if I either find myself without enough money to take care of myself, or if I stop being hyperfixated on Doctor Who, I can sell my collection of CDs to make up for all that I spent on them. Downloads can’t be sold, so spending almost the full price on them for something that can never be ‘got back’ by reselling feels really risky.
So that’s one of the reasons why seeing yet another release be download-only is really really miserable.
Big Finish are really helpful in saying when their licenses end, so providing nothing happens prior to that, you should at least check so you can put all your audios on a hard drive.
Does anyone else play games while listening? For me it became like.. idk second nature. Years ago I used to listen while either working (probs why I forgot most of the 8/Charley stuff) or shutting my eyes laying down
Problem I have is, I’ve finished the amazing Powerwash Simulator like 4/5 times now including all DLC. Thank god there’s a sequel game due out later this year.
I’m kinda sick replaying, anyone else got games they play I could maybe do? Preferably with minimal dialogue, as with Powerwash.
