Personally, I adore the outfits where Romana II plays with gender presentation a bit. Horns of Nimon is my absolute favourite (I want to try to make a cosplay of that one) with State of Decay and Destiny of the Daleks close behind. I love the way Destiny of the Daleks makes it very clear she’s the Doctor’s equal with her outfit. I also love the outfits on Well mannered war, English way of death and romance of crime for the same reason. Lalla Ward just pulls it all of so perfectly. And of course the Ribos Operation. I love that flowy white dress and Mary Tamm is just stunning in it. She’s stunning in everything, but especially that dress.
City of Death is my favourite but I love all these fits! I also voted for Destiny, Androids of Tara, Ribos and Stones of Blood (hat). But I also really adore Shada and Horns of Nimon.
Romana across all incarnations is just a fashion icon tbh
I know I honestly got halfway through making this poll before remembering I would have to choose as well and nearly stopped because it is just plain impossible. Most beautiful women in the world indeed
My absolute favourite is probably Romana’s Ribos Operation fluffy cloak, but I think her dress in Full Circle is an underrated highlight. It’s a bizarre outfit, but I’m rather partial to Romana’s pink theming in The Pirate Planet because Mary Tamm. Horns of Nimon and State of Decay are probably my favourites for Romana’s more masculine outfits, and what I’ve learnt writing this post is that I absolutely can’t decide.
Let’s go with The Ribos Operation. Mary Tamm is so utterly gorgeous in probably Romana’s best costuming-as-characterisation outfit, and the snow and lighting of the sets in Ribos just add to it.
Romana’s Androids outfit is possibly my favourite outfit in all of Doctor Who, and if I had time and money, I would absolutely try to cosplay that. The colours just work for me.
