I think The Giggle is the great for inventing the concept of a secret message hidden in every TV screen, and I enjoyed the reveal of the actual ā€œgiggleā€.

But as far as which story is best, Lux is the best out of all of these.

Why is Sutekh the only one who doesn’t Giggle?

Easily The Giggle Novelisation

I think Lux is the most enjoyable story (though that might be recency bias), but I don’t really like Lux as a villain. My favourite of the gods (ignoring their episodes) would be either Toymaker or Maestro.

Lux hands down. It’s still only a 6/10 for me but easily the strongest of these stories.

Lux without a doubt. I’ve been a bit mehh on all the others

ā€œThe Giggleā€ for me. Still the best performance from Ncuti Gatwa in my eyes. Mel! Neil Patrick Harris! Kate Stewart! Scary bits! Fun bits! It might be my favourite from the RTD2 years so far :slightly_smiling_face:

ā€œLuxā€ must be second, but there is probably recency bias, let’s see how I feel in a year :slightly_smiling_face:

ā€œThe Legend of Ruby Sunday/Empire of Deathā€ has more holes in it than a Swiss cheese and it sours it right up for me. Plus Morris

ā€œThe Devil’s Chordā€ I have absolutely no love for… It’s the televised equivalent of the feeling of walking barefoot through a dark room and suddenly stepping on a LEGO (with a horrendous song at the end)

I’ve went with The Devils Chord, perhaps there’s some bias in there as I’m a HUGE fan of Jinkx. Regardless of the story, she absolutely stole the show for me and takes number one, really closely followed by Lux which I loved. Then the other two, I like the Giggle until that moment, and Sutekh’s return was just meh.

Could you elaborate? I have no idea what moment this could be referencing :slightly_smiling_face:

I honestly think The Giggle could have been an absolutely stellar episode if they just did something a bit better instead of the catch scene :sob:

It takes me totally out of the flow when I realise just how bad that is (the fact that there are 2 Doctors does not help at all, they should have done piggy in the middle or something).

But otherwise, yeah, The Giggle is awesome!

Sorry I can’t tell if you are being serious or not aha so apologies if you were joking, but I’m on about the abysmal bigeneration!

Oh really? That was the best part of the episode for me. I was beaming with a huge smile, and loved seeing Ncuti and David together like that!

I might be joking too much around here at times, but this was a genuine question :slightly_smiling_face:
I liked the bigeneration personally (as long as it’s a one-off thing)

It’s one of my most hated moments in the history of the show :sob: I won’t bog down the convo focusing on it though. On a more positive note, I have a friend who only got into Doctor Who because Jinkx was cast (she’s nuts for her, goes to all the Broadway shows she’s in etc) and she’s loving the new season!

Because you think it makes people think Fifteen isn’t a ā€˜true’ Doctor?

I just don’t agree, and think it’s only haters who are pushing that narrative.

I loved it!!

No, not that really. I do hate it opens up people being able to argue for it though. I hate that Ncuti didn’t get his first scene as the Doctor all to himself, and the buildup to the regeneration was incredible. Every detail down to the music, and the companions holding his hand as he changed I thought would’ve been such an amazing visual.

It also just stems from my issue with RTD’s reluctance to let DT go, why do we have to have endless versions of him out there. I think if they just explained it better it may have landed more with me, but it just felt too vague on the details of how/what happens.

In essence, this is my issue with the bigeneration too. I just think it’s stupid :person_shrugging: and I don’t really get why it had to happen. But whatever, I will do what I always do with DW I don’t like and pretend it doesn’t exist

Also this poll is missing Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane Smith? :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Also Kinda, Snakedance and The Greatest Show in the Galaxy

None of them aired in 2023 or later though, which the poll is for :hourglass_not_done:
