Badge Ideas

Is there already a badge for experiencing a certain number stories where people are in disguise as other people?

No spoilers here about specific stories or characters but Master reveals are one common example. The stories are already marked with the Master of Surprise trope.

Well, he’s in Twice Upon a Time as the Lethbridge-Stewart patriarch.

Delta’s asking specifically about the character Gantok, not Gatiss as the actor.

Yeah I thought that too just thought a humorous line to poke fun at the stupidity of it. But I do 100% see the fact probably not good to have badges for that one or possibly any content warning

Given that we have a few cross-media character completion badges for some Doctors already, I’d say it’d be worthwhile doing the same for them all! [1]

  1. I’m definitely not just saying this because I’d love a Fugitive and War Doctor badge… ↩︎

Come to think of it with cracked badges we could probably also have doctor badges for things like the Target Novels where modern Doctors aren’t done yet

Might be cool to have a badge for every story written by Kate Orman (this is my own personal project lol, and I’ve been finding the development of her style over the years fascinating)

We definitely need writer badges. I’d devour a Tim Foley one!

Complete every Big Finish story with a post-2005 element (including spin-offs)

This is what I am aiming to do, so a badge for it would be cool.

But they aren’t tagged in any way, so would need to manually list all the sets, and need a name idea for it!

Likewise! I’ve just got Short Trips left IIRC.

Not sure on a name..

What about “Out With The Old”? (As in: “in with the new”)

Or simply “New Who”?

“Timey Wimey” is probably already a badge…

Just brainstorming!

Brilliant idea for a badge, Blossom!

I think I’d just have the Short Trips and that New Earth boxset, which I never hear people talk about!

Its a mixed bag tbf, I was one of the people who wrote it off initially. I think it could’ve been really good had it been done a few years later, especially when Tennant was on board. I did find some stuff to enjoy in it!

How about “New Doctors, New Monsters”?

The badge could just be sets but that’s technically not granular enough. For example I just listened to Thin Time from the late Main Range which has an 11th Doctor cameo. But obviously the main range isnt new who.

Bit more of a pain but you could probably filter for any modern Doctors, conpanions, and aliens. But such a badge will likely always have cracks (like locations, trops, Time War, etc)

I quite liked it! One of my first ever listens actually. The first story is quite nothingy set-up but then it really improves.

Whenever the Clive Merrison Sherlock Holmes stuff gets added to Audiolog, I have an idea for a good pair of badges for the site:

The Sign of the Sixty: Rate every adaptation of a Sherlock Holmes story written by Arthur Conan Doyle. (Illustration from Sidney Paget’s Portrait of Sherlock Holmes)

The New & Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Rate every Sherlock Holmes story original to audio. (Illustration from Sherlock Holmes: The Lost Radio Scripts)

Going off a little thing I saw in the audio bargains chat

Unmade but not unloved - log every unmade story adaptation

This would include stuff like shada the lost stories big finish range and basically every unproduced story adaptation story type

Not so much a badge idea as an organisation idea: Why not split badges for species off of “Character Badges”? It’d make it a little easier to parse the big wall of them, especially when one for the Silurians gets added…
