Tucker: I’m not overly impressed with anything that he’s written, but more diversity on TV would still be nice
Pegg: The Spectre of Lanyon Moor is brilliant, so if he did anything like that for TV it would be brilliant.
Cartmel: I really like Winter for the Adept, and I think given his time as script editor he deserves a shot at writing for TV. His stories can be weird as well, which is always nice to see.
I was waiting for the next three because he’d have to be in that
It’s genuinely just insane to me he hasn’t, especially when he’s seemingly so close and trusted by the people running the show (to the point where he was able to get a Mavity reference in a story before WBY released)
Here’s the next batch from the Main Range/Monthly Adventures:
Steve Lyons: An author who has written several Doctor Who across several ranges, several short stories, and several DWA comics (mostly for the Eleventh Doctor). He’s also written several audio stories including The Ratings War, Blood of the Daleks, and Gallifrey: Insurgency (2.4). For the Main Range he wrote #12, 25, 80, 99, 132, 244, 255, and 266a. He has not written for the TV show. Should Lyons be commissioned to write an episode of the TV series?
Paul Cornell: Paul Cornell is one that doesn’t really need any introduction, but I’ll give one anyway. Coming on to the scene with the VNAs, Paul Cornell is the creator of Bernice Summerfield. He has also written several short stories and comic stories. For the Main Range he wrote The Shadow of the Scourge (MR #13) and The 100 Days of the Doctor (MR #100d), and co-wrote Seasons of Fear (MR #30) and Circular Time (MR #91). For the TV show, he wrote Father’s Day and Human Nature/The Family of Blood. He has since retired from writing any pre-existing characters (with a couple exceptions). Should Cornell be enticed back to the TV series?
Robert Shearman: Rob Shearman also doesn’t really need any introduction. He’s known for dark comedy that strandles the line between funny and uncomfortable. His Main Range contributions are legendary: The Holy Terror (MR #14), The Chimes of Midnight (MR #29), Jubilee (MR #40), Scherzo (MR #52), and My Own Private Wolfgang (MR #100b)[1]. His one TV script, Dalek is superb. Should Shearman be enticed back to the TV series?
okay maybe this one isn’t legendary, but the rest are ↩︎
YES. YES HE SHOULD. please. If Paul Cornell came back I would literally forgive any fault that hypothetical season may have. All other episodes could be rebroadcasts of Kill the Moon and I wouldn’t care[1].
